Master of Business Administration [MBA] (Management Business Analytics)
Field of Study:
$21,442 /Yr
McGill University Master of Business Administration (MBA) Management Business Analytics is a course-based, non-thesis MBA in Montreal, delivered full-time on campus through the Desautels Faculty of Management. The current route offers 12, 16 or 20 months; this page uses the 20-month, 54-credit option tied to the two-year course listing. It requires a recognized bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant post-graduate work. Target tuition is C$108,500 (INR 74.98 Lakhs) for September 2027, plus a C$3,000 study trip (INR 2.07 Lakhs).
The Business Analytics specialization applies data tools to managerial decisions while the shared MBA core develops strategy, operations, accounting and leadership judgment. The strongest fit is an early or mid-career applicant who wants management responsibility through analytics. The programme combines cases, team work, a required international study trip and an optional internship route within an intensive full-time schedule.
- The 10-day international study trip adds company visits and senior-executive exposure to the classroom sequence.
- The published class profile combines 40 to 65 students with more than 60% international representation, supporting a cross-border team setting.
- New MBA students and their partners or spouses can access a free beginner French course, which may help with daily life in Montreal.
Current Admission Status
Applications for the September 2027 intake are Not Yet Open. International student deadline: 15 March 2027.
The Fall 2027 portal is scheduled to open on 15 September 2026; the official target schedule publishes dates without a time-of-day or timezone, so the portal cutoff controls. Indian applicants should have the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) or GRE (Graduate Record Examinations), two professional references, essays, English scores and transcripts ready before submission. Both tests are mandatory because McGill publishes no waiver.

McGill MBA Fees and Living Costs 2027
For the Fall 2027 entering class, McGill publishes C$108,500 (INR 74.98 Lakhs) as MBA tuition and C$3,000 (INR 2.07 Lakhs) for the required international study trip.
The target-cycle tuition excludes the study trip, while the trip amount excludes airfare. The application fee and acceptance deposit are current MBA charges, and the target fee page does not itemize insurance, books or every ancillary charge.
Fee cycle: Tuition and the study trip are explicitly labelled Fall 2027, while the application fee and deposit are listed as current programme charges without a separate intake label.
| Fee | Amount (CAD) | Amount (INR) | Payment meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| MBA tuition, Fall 2027 entering class | C$108,500 | INR 74.98 Lakhs | Published gross tuition for the entering class |
| International study trip, excluding airfare | C$3,000 | INR 2.07 Lakhs | Required programme component |
| MBA application fee | C$139.63 | INR 9,650 | Non-refundable application charge |
| Acceptance deposit | C$5,000 | INR 3.46 Lakhs | Non-refundable deposit after admission |
All INR conversions in the article use a conversion rate of CAD 1 = INR 69.1098 as of 25 August 2026. Rates fluctuate daily, verify before applying.

The C$108,500 (INR 74.98 Lakhs) figure is the gross international tuition reference for this target cycle, so Indian applicants should not subtract the Canadian or permanent-resident waiver.
- The required C$3,000 study trip (INR 2.07 Lakhs) creates a separate travel cash-flow need because airfare is excluded.
- The C$5,000 deposit (INR 3.46 Lakhs) is non-refundable, so keep the amount liquid before accepting an offer.
- The target tuition page says fees can change, which makes a written fee-account confirmation useful before signing a loan agreement.
Cost of Living in Montreal: McGill’s official planning table estimates average monthly living costs at C$2,405 (INR 1.66 Lakhs). Its published total range is C$1,807 to C$3,171 (INR 1.25 Lakhs to INR 2.19 Lakhs).
Cost of Living in Montreal for MBA Students
The following baseline uses McGill’s Montreal estimate rather than a visa-maintenance figure or an MBA charge. Annual values are calculated by multiplying each official average monthly estimate by 12.
| Expense | Monthly (CAD) | Monthly (INR) | Annual (CAD) | Annual (INR) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Housing | C$1,502 | INR 1.04 Lakhs | C$18,024 | INR 12.46 Lakhs |
| Food and groceries | C$360 | INR 24,880 | C$4,320 | INR 2.99 Lakhs |
| Utilities and cable | C$110 | INR 7,602 | C$1,320 | INR 91,225 |
| Internet | C$75 | INR 5,183 | C$900 | INR 62,199 |
| Phone | C$80 | INR 5,529 | C$960 | INR 66,345 |
| Entertainment | C$160 | INR 11,058 | C$1,920 | INR 1.33 Lakhs |
| Transportation | C$118 | INR 8,155 | C$1,416 | INR 97,817 |
| Total average baseline | C$2,405 | INR 1.66 Lakhs | C$28,860 | INR 19.95 Lakhs |
A 20-month study period produces a calculated average-living baseline of C$48,100 (INR 33.24 Lakhs). Adding target tuition, the study trip and this living baseline gives a calculated total of C$159,600 (INR 1.10 Crore), excluding airfare, insurance, books, financing and unitemized charges.
Budget action: Use the average as a planning midpoint, then test the higher official monthly range before deciding whether the 20-month route fits your available funding.

Budget distinction
McGill’s living estimate measures student spending, while Quebec’s financial-capacity rule serves immigration proof and does not replace either the tuition budget or the monthly plan.
Key insight: Tuition includes neither the required C$3,000 study trip (INR 2.07 Lakhs) nor airfare. Indian applicants should reserve travel funding before accepting the C$5,000 deposit commitment.
McGill MBA Admission 2027
Admission requires a recognized undergraduate degree, at least two years of relevant post-graduate full-time work experience and a GMAT or GRE score without a waiver.
McGill assesses transcripts, essays, references, extracurricular interests and interview performance together, so meeting the minimum academic threshold does not remove the need to show managerial potential.
Academic Eligibility
Indian applicants should match both McGill’s GPA (grade point average) rule and its country-specific equivalency guidance before submitting transcripts. The GPA rule is read alongside McGill’s India-specific degree and grading table.
NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) accreditation is the institutional reference used when McGill distinguishes Indian three-year degrees. The table therefore links degree length to the named institution condition.
| Requirement | McGill standard | Indian applicant meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Undergraduate degree | Recognized bachelor’s degree | McGill’s India table specifies a four-year bachelor’s, or a three-year bachelor’s from a NAAC A institution, or a two-year master’s after a three-year bachelor’s from an institution below NAAC A |
| Academic minimum | GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale | At least 55% overall or Second Division, Upper under McGill’s India-specific table; no universal 10-point CGPA (cumulative grade point average) conversion is published |
| Relevant work experience | Minimum two years of relevant full-time post-graduate experience | Count experience after the undergraduate degree and show responsibility, progression or analytical work in the curriculum vitae (CV) |
| Management test | GMAT, GMAT Focus Edition or GRE required for all applicants | There is no waiver, so book a recognised test before the application deadline |
| Application evidence | Transcripts, three essays, two professional references, extracurricular information and interview by invitation | Use supervisors or evaluators who can discuss work performance and managerial potential |
McGill’s India equivalency table maps 55% to Second Division, Upper and 3.3 on its illustrative four-point table, but the institution grading scale must accompany your documents.
Academic fit: Business Analytics is a 15-credit concentration within the MBA rather than a separate analytics master’s. Applicants should therefore show both quantitative comfort and evidence that they want broader management decisions.
Published MBA Class Profile
The current published typical profile gives a useful benchmark for preparation, but McGill does not identify a cohort year on that page.
| Profile measure | Published figure | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Typical full-time class size | 40 to 65 students | Expect a small cohort where references, essays and team behaviour matter |
| Average age | 29 | Use the figure as context rather than an eligibility cutoff |
| Average GMAT | 650, test version not stated | It is a published average, not a minimum or a cross-version target |
| Average work experience | 5.5 years | Applicants with two years can apply, but should explain the depth and direction of their experience |
| International representation | More than 60% | Prepare to explain how your Indian experience adds value to diverse teams |
| Countries represented | 15 or more | Use the collaborative setting to assess whether cross-border discussion suits your learning style |
| Female representation | 45% | Read as a class-composition indicator, not an admission preference |
English Language Proficiency
The MBA admissions page requires IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Academic 7.0 overall with no band below 7.0. It also accepts TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) iBT 100 with at least 20 in every category. These are the programme-specific English routes shown for this MBA.
McGill’s graduate-wide page now lists a six-point TOEFL scale, while the MBA page still publishes the 0 to 120 scale. Because no MBA conversion is published, do not self-convert a score.
| Test route | Published MBA requirement | Indian applicant action |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | Overall 7.0 with no band below 7.0 | Plan for a balanced score because one lower band does not meet the stated rule |
| TOEFL iBT | Overall 100 with minimum 20 in each category on the 0 to 120 scale | Use the MBA page’s exact scale and verify reporting requirements before booking a revised-format test |
| English-language evidence | Required when the undergraduate institution’s language of instruction was not English | Request a waiver only with direct documentation that McGill can accept |
- Choose IELTS when you can reliably meet 7.0 in every band, because the MBA rule has no lower-band allowance.
- Ask MBA admissions how a post-January 2026 TOEFL report will be assessed, because the current pages display different scales.
- Send official scores and complete transcript evidence before 15 March 2027 rather than relying on an upload alone.
Programme preparation: The first semester integrates five modules and ends with a case competition, so applicants should expect structured team work rather than an isolated data curriculum.

Tip for Indian students: The formal minimum is GPA 3.0 on 4.0 plus two years of relevant work. The 5.5-year published average makes a quantified leadership narrative important.
McGill MBA Application 2027
The MBA offers a Fall-only intake, and the announced 2027 application window opens on 15 September 2026 for international applicants.
The international final deadline is 15 March 2027. The published target schedule gives no time-of-day or timezone, so Indian applicants should treat the portal’s displayed cutoff as controlling.
Fall 2027 Application Dates
McGill’s current programme page identifies Fall as the available intake and does not publish Winter or Summer application rounds.
| Application stage | Published timing | What Indian applicants should do |
|---|---|---|
| Applications open | 15 September 2026 | Prepare the complete file before the portal opens |
| International final deadline | 15 March 2027 | Submit before the portal cutoff because no local-time conversion is published |
| Decision after complete application | Usually within four weeks | Allow for document review before making dependent travel or funding commitments |
| Decision after interview | Within two weeks after the interview | Keep interview availability flexible after an invitation |
McGill’s older MBA page still displays the closed Fall 2026 rounds, but those dates are not a substitute for the announced Fall 2027 schedule.
Application Components
A complete file should connect your work history, analytics interest and leadership decisions to the programme’s management curriculum.
| Component | Published requirement | Practical preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Transcripts | All undergraduate and graduate studies, including exchange or transfer work | Upload readable records, degree proof where needed and certified translations into English or French |
| Essays | Three essays with a maximum of 500 words each | Explain why an MBA now, your career direction, classmate contribution and a difficult decision process |
| Professional references | Two letters from supervisors or evaluators | Choose referees who can describe performance, leadership and managerial potential |
| GMAT or GRE | Required for every applicant with no waiver | Send the official score using McGill’s programme code before final submission |
| English evidence | IELTS Academic or TOEFL iBT when the language condition applies | Use the MBA thresholds shown in the admission section and verify the TOEFL scale |
| Interview | By invitation, with international interviews commonly conducted online | Prepare examples showing judgment, collaboration and data-informed management |
The application fee is C$139.63 (INR 9,650) and the accepted-candidate deposit is C$5,000 (INR 3.46 Lakhs). Both charges affect near-term cash flow, while the deposit is non-refundable.
- Use the months before 15 September 2026 to complete the test, transcript equivalency check and reference requests.
- Draft essays around one analytics-informed management decision rather than listing every project in your CV.
- Submit a complete file well before 15 March 2027 because missing documents can delay the decision clock.
Application strategy: The 20-month route includes more time for electives and an internship, so state why that duration supports your analytics and management plan.
Application tip: The only announced applicant deadline is 15 March 2027. Finish scores, references and essays before the portal date instead of relying on a later round.
McGill MBA Scholarships 2027
McGill automatically considers MBA applicants for listed merit awards unless an award says otherwise, but the current scholarship page does not publish separate Fall 2027 deadlines.
The awards below are current published opportunities, not confirmed target-cycle offers. They can reduce funding pressure when awarded, but the C$108,500 (INR 74.98 Lakhs) target tuition remains the safe planning assumption.
Cycle note: McGill does not state a target-cycle deadline for these awards, so check the MBA funding instructions when the Fall 2027 application portal opens.
| Award | Value (CAD) | Value (INR) | Eligibility and route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adam Dinkes MBA Leadership Award | C$10,000 | INR 6.91 Lakhs | Academic merit and leadership, with preference for international students interested in entrepreneurship |
| Dominic K.M. Lai MBA Fellowship | Value varies | Amount not published | Academic merit, with preference for students from Asia |
| Ip Kim Hung MBA Leadership Award | Value varies | Amount not published | Academic merit and leadership, with preference for applicants from Asian countries |
| Herschorn H E Graduate Award | Up to C$5,000 | Up to INR 3.46 Lakhs | Full-time student entering the MBA, assessed on academic merit |
| Lecky Foundation MBA Leadership Award | C$10,000 | INR 6.91 Lakhs | Two outstanding entering or enrolled students, assessed on academic merit and leadership |
The published international-student preferences make the Adam Dinkes, Dominic K.M. Lai and Ip Kim Hung awards particularly relevant to an Indian applicant, but preference is not a promise of selection.
- Prepare one evidence-rich leadership example for awards that combine academic merit with leadership assessment.
- Keep the full C$108,500 tuition (INR 74.98 Lakhs) in your funding model because no award is guaranteed at admission.
- Ask whether a separate scholarship statement is required when the Fall 2027 portal opens because current award pages do not publish a target deadline.
Funding route: The listed awards are institution-administered merit funding. The Canadian or permanent-resident tuition waiver and its up-to-50% scholarship language should not be treated as an Indian international entitlement.
Scholarship reality: Three listed awards favour Asian or international profiles. The absence of a published Fall 2027 award deadline means applicants should secure the loan plan before waiting for scholarship decisions.
McGill MBA Salary 2027
The closest official career evidence is the Full-Time MBA 2025 employment report, not a separate Business Analytics concentration report.
The report shows 83% placement within six months of graduation for the full-time MBA 2025. Salary figures below are school-level outcomes or reported market destinations, so they do not guarantee an individual offer.
Full-Time MBA Employment Outcomes
McGill reports compensation by measure, function and industry, with the salary figures below using the report’s three-year cumulative average where specified.
| Outcome scope | Salary (CAD) | Salary (INR) | Published basis |

| Technology function | C$102,250 | INR 70.66 Lakhs | Three-year cumulative mean base salary |
Source: McGill Full-Time MBA 2025 Employment Statistics.
The report places 66% of reported graduates in Montreal, 31% in Toronto and 3% internationally. Reported employer destinations include Deloitte, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), Google and McKinsey, which demonstrates destination presence rather than a recruitment or sponsorship promise.
Employment Mix and Internship Evidence
Functional and industry shares show where the school-level MBA evidence is concentrated, while the internship report adds an earlier work-experience signal.
| Measure | Share | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Consulting or Strategy function | 23% | Full-time MBA 2025 employment report |
| Finance function | 17% | Full-time MBA 2025 employment report |
| General Management function | 13% | Full-time MBA 2025 employment report |
| Technology function | 10% | Full-time MBA 2025 employment report |
| Financial Services industry | 33% | Full-time MBA 2025 employment report |
| Technology industry | 17% | Full-time MBA 2025 employment report |
| Consulting industry | 13% | Full-time MBA 2025 employment report |
| Manufacturing industry | 10% | Full-time MBA 2025 employment report |
| Internship employment | 78% | Full-Time MBA Internship Statistics 2025 to 2026, among students seeking employment |
| Internship function, AI and Analytics | 5% | Full-Time MBA Internship Statistics 2025 to 2026 |
The internship report gives a monthly mean of C$7,043 (INR 4.87 Lakhs) and median of C$5,000 (INR 3.46 Lakhs), based on 77% reporting.
The 20-month route can include an internship after the core sequence, but the published percentage does not promise an internship for every student. The evidence supports preparation for analytics roles while showing that the reported internship function share is only 5%.
Return on Investment (ROI) for Indian Applicants
The financial case is conditional because the programme cost is high, the outcome evidence is school-level and the post-study work route has eligibility conditions.
- Target tuition is C$108,500 (INR 74.98 Lakhs) plus C$3,000 (INR 2.07 Lakhs) for the trip, so obtain a loan quote covering both.
- Average 20-month living is C$48,100 (INR 33.24 Lakhs), so stress-test the C$159,600 (INR 1.10 Crore) plan before extras.
- The 83% placement figure covers the full-time MBA 2025, so compare your experience and target sector with that scope before assuming repayment capacity.
- A qualifying master’s may support up to three years of post-study work, so verify study status, language scores and passport validity before treating Canadian earnings as certain.
- Because reported locations are 66% Montreal, 31% Toronto and 3% international, decide whether your funding plan assumes Canadian employment or an India return.
Take-home pay will differ from the reported gross base salary because Quebec taxes and deductions depend on personal circumstances. Use the Canada payroll deductions calculator before building a monthly repayment schedule.

ROI reality: The 83% placement result and C$105,511 (INR 72.92 Lakhs) mean base salary are school-level evidence. Model the full C$159,600 (INR 1.10 Crore) plan against your target sector and location.
Canada Visa for McGill MBA Students 2027
Indian applicants need a Canadian study permit and a CAQ (Québec Acceptance Certificate) for study in Quebec. The listed study permit fee is C$150 (INR 10,366), biometrics cost C$85 (INR 5,874) and the CAQ processing fee is C$135 (INR 9,330).
Quebec’s current one-person financial-capacity amount is C$24,617 (INR 17.01 Lakhs) for basic needs, excluding tuition and transportation. This immigration proof is separate from McGill’s Montreal living estimate and the programme budget.
The PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit) is the post-study open work permit relevant to eligible graduates. The PSTQ (Québec Skilled Worker Selection Program) is the current Quebec permanent-selection route based on expression of interest and invitation.
- An eligible master’s of at least eight months may support a PGWP of up to three years, subject to full-time study and current language rules.
- The spouse work-permit rule generally requires a master’s of at least 16 months, making the 20-month route different from the 12-month route.
- PSTQ requires an expression of interest and invitation, and no single salary threshold or fixed permanent-residence timeline is published, so verify French, occupation and work-experience criteria.
- Use the official CAQ study application guidance for the current process because Quebec conditions can change during the 2027 intake cycle.
Current federal guidance says a master’s graduate does not face a field-of-study requirement for the PGWP, but eligibility is not automatic. Check the official post-graduation work permit rules before using Canadian earnings in your loan model.
The current Quebec permanent-selection programme requires an invitation, so a Fall 2027 entrant should not assume a particular settlement route or processing period.
Visa reality: The 20-month option can matter for spouse eligibility and internship planning, but permit approval, a three-year work window and Quebec permanent selection remain conditional steps.
McGill MBA Ranking 2027
McGill’s official MBA pages report programme-level rankings for international mobility, international faculty, return on investment and alumni outcomes. QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) is the provider named for the ROI and alumni-outcomes measure.
These measures describe ranking criteria rather than admission probability, salary certainty or Business Analytics concentration outcomes.
| Ranking | Edition | Position | Published scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Financial Times Global MBA Ranking | 2026 | #1 | North America for international faculty |
| Financial Times Global MBA Ranking | 2026 | #1 | North America for international mobility |
| QS Global MBA Rankings | 2026 | #1 | Canada for return on investment and alumni outcomes |
For an Indian applicant, the international measures reinforce the cross-border classroom proposition, while the ROI ranking should be read alongside the verified cost and school-level employment scope.
Read More: McGill University rankings
Key insight: The published #1 positions support McGill’s international and ROI positioning, but applicants should still judge the Business Analytics route through its curriculum, cost and employment evidence.
McGill’s MBA Management Business Analytics route fits an Indian professional who wants management breadth with a focused 15-credit analytics concentration, structured cases and international exposure. The 20-month option adds time for an internship and can matter for spouse work-permit eligibility. It also increases living costs beyond the C$108,500 (INR 74.98 Lakhs) tuition. The school-level employment report offers useful context rather than a course-specific guarantee, so the funding decision should use the calculated C$159,600 (INR 1.10 Crore) plan. Begin tests, references and essays before 15 September 2026, then verify the portal and scholarship instructions before submitting by 15 March 2027.

A four-year bachelor’s degree is typically required to apply for graduate admission at McGill University. However, the university also somtimes accepts applications from students who have completed a three-year bachelor’s degree on a case-by-case basis. However, meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program, as admission decisions are highly competitive and based on a holistic review of each students’s credentials.
