Ans. One of my friends studied Psychology at Aryabhatta College. According to her, it is really great as it offers immense exposure and opportunities. The college, though being a new establishment, is growing rapidly academically. The college is very strict and has certain rules and regulations to maintain its discipline. 75-80% attendance is compulsory. The faculty is highly experienced and cooperative. The department organizes guest lectures on a regular basis from eminent people in the field of psychology.  Srijan, the psychology association of Aryabhatta college is a very active society. Being in Delhi University South Campus there is the ease of transportation.  The student crowd is also very good. Therefore, you can consider this college as a good option not just for psychology but for other courses as well. It might be a little less recognized among other DUs but it will surely provide you with the proper exposure.Read more

Ans. Some of my friends studied Economics honors at Aryabhatta College. According to them, economics honors itself is a comparatively tougher subject, graduating with it is an achievement itself. You get to know about how markets work and relate almost anything and any topic or current issue to the prevailing conditions of an economy.  It also demands good skills in mathematics and quantitative ability that will benefit you in the long term.  This course will push you to your limit. You will have to submit numerous projects based on case studies and current market scenarios. Aryabhatta College is the youngest college of DU. It originated from an evening college converted to a morning one.  The only thing that is a bit concerning is its placement cell, it is very new. Thus, not having established contacts with the reputed organizations and companies might come as a disadvantage. Few companies that visit the campus are average.Read more

Ans. One of my friends is pursuing her BA(H) in Applied Psychology from Amity University. According to her experience, Amity University is definitely not the best, but it is not a bad option either. Given below is a brief review of the course.  Faculty: The faculties are well-qualified. Most of them have their Ph.D. or doing their Ph.D. from Amity University.  Although most of the teachers do not have time to come to the class because of some of the other issues. Sometimes, they are in the middle of a conference, annual function, or a Sangathan or sports day. Attendance:  At Amity, attendance is a big issue. You need to maintain at least 75% attendance in each subject.  Extra-subjects: In Amity, you don’t join psychology or any particular course, but the baggage of other subjects like foreign languages, English, BS, EVS, and many more. You will have to study a total of 12 subjects in the first semester itself. Out of these subjects, only some of them are useful, the rest do not even matter if they were a part of the curriculum for psychology or not. The BA Psychology department has almost 1800 students in the department, 7 sections for BA Psychology Hons, and each section has 60 students. The faculty members are not at par with the count required to teach 7 sections. So, you might face some difficulty with the lectures taught because of the huge crowd of students attending the lecture, all at the same time, in the same hall. But this problem is temporary. Extra-curricular: You’ll be told to give a lot of presentations. Which helps improving public speaking skills. There are many extra-curricular activities that help in your overall development. Only proactive students take up the opportunities because this participation in these programs is not compulsory. The schedule in Amity is quite hectic. Constant seminars and NGO projects are organized alongside your curriculum. There are summer internships for the students, just the way they are organized for other departments. Fee Structure: As far as fee structure is concerned, it will cost you around 1 lakh per year, which is quite high as compared to DU, which has an annual fee of 10,000. The number of girls in each section is more. The ratio of the number of girls to boys is 8:1. It would be best for you to go for options like Ambedkar University or DU. But Amity is not that bad. You would definitely enjoy those 3 years in the university.Read more

The eligibility to take admission in the course is 10+2 with a minimum of 70% in English for non-sponsored and 60% for the sponsored category. The course fee is Rs 3 lakhs for the first year. The institution has 16 well qualified and experienced faculties. The majority of them are alumni of central universities such as Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, etc. The approximate student-faculty ratio is 17 students to 1 teacher. The infrastructure of the institute is quite good. The institute provides free Wi-Fi facilities and a library with over 2,00,000 books, journals. There is also an online digital library. The institute provides a good audio-visual laboratory for students. Graduates can avail jobs in both public sector as well as private sector.
