Ques. Which is the better MBBS college of Mumbai - TNMC, LTMC, Grant Medical College or RN Cooper?

Ans. According to the reviews online, if academics are concerned LTMC is the best among all the others mentioned. There is no doubt that academically LTMC is superior to the others. They also have many cultural fests held over the years which are much more vibrant and provide immense exposure to the students. In LTMMC the internships offered to the students are very demanding.  The hospital is crowded most of the time.  They have a huge patient load, which benefits some students but becomes tiring for others.  If you put all your focus and hard work in these internships, you will definitely miss out on studying. Even so, it is preferred by most students as you will get to learn directly from the doctor handling the cases. The internship builds you as an individual making you adapt in different situations. The best thing about the internship is that you get to do a lot of BM biopsies, lumbar punctures, central line insertions , forceps-suction, cup deliveries, sebaceous cyst and lipoma excisions etc. Most of the students feel that the internships here are better in terms of clinical practice. Ques. How are the residential (hostel) facilities at AIIMS Bhubaneswar for MBBS students?

Ans. While some may consider the hostel facilities of AIIMS Bhubaneswar a bit inferior to that of AIIMS Jodhpur and Bhopal, all necessary amenities are available here making the stay comfortable. AIIMS Bhubaneswar has 3 boys' hostels, 2 girls' hostels, and separate Nursing and PG hostels. The hostel's rooms are sufficiently large and furnished with basic amenities like a bed, table, chair, and an almirah.  Students can bring their own electrical appliances and no such restrictions are there. The students are allotted shared rooms in the first year and get their personal rooms in the second year. AIIMS Sulabh visits daily to ensure cleanliness and hygiene. The campus is secure and safe with SIS security guards on duty 24/7. The college has bus facilities that take you to the market on weekends. AIIMS Bhubaneswar has 2 messes providing tasty and healthy food for the MBBS students each having its independent canteen that serves additional food. There are TVs installed in the mess area. The campus also has a stationary shop that fulfills the basic needs of the students. AIIMS Bhubaneswar has excellent sports facilities such as two TT boards, 2 badminton courts, 1 volleyball court, 1 basketball court, 1 football field, and 1 cricket pitch. AIIMS BBSR had the honor to organize the first-ever Inter-AIIMS fest- Chiasma.  Overall, AIIMS Bhubaneswar has excellent campus and hostel facilities that improve the college life and learning experience of the students as a whole.Read more

Ques. Is it true that the second generation AIIMS (Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh) are suffering from lack of faculty and hightech medical instruments for MBBS UG course?

Ans. MBBS from any AIIMS is equally good and anyone who claims otherwise has false information or hasn’t been exposed to the facilities of these peripheral AIIMS.  As for the high-tech medical instruments, UG MBBS does not require such equipment and the course is conducted mostly through clinical exposure and not research work. For this, we need enough cadavers, well-furnished labs, OTS, and well-maintained lecture theaters. Every AIIMS provides these top-notch facilities and has excellent infrastructure that promotes a healthy academic environment. The quality of the infrastructure is further proved by the pic below What you see here is a modular OT and a high-tech faculty that is present only in institutes of national importance because of funding from the government. AIIMS faculty recruitment is unique and thus it’s not easy to take in just anyone as a teacher here. Moreover, the faculty shortage does not affect the quality of education.  The results of all these AIIMS and the successful doctors they have produce are a testament to their worth and credibility that is almost the same as AIIMS Delhi.Read more

Ques. If you have options to pursue an MBBS in AIIMS Bhubaneswar or JIPMER, Puducherry, which college would you prefer now?

Ans. Both JIPMER and AIIMS Bhubaneswar are equally good in terms of infrastructure and academics. While JIPMER has a magnificent campus, AIIMS Bhubaneswar buildings are more modern because of recent construction. Overall, there aren't many differences between the 2 institutes. The academics, infrastructure, and hostel facilities are somewhat similar. but if I was in your place, I would have chosen JIPMER, Puducherry for UG over AIIMS Bhubaneswar. While this may surprise many, I have logical reasons to support my stance. The one solid reason why I chose JIPMER was the beauty and the places to explore.  The breakfast shops in Auroville The Rocky Beach with moonlight shimmering on the water. The Le Cafe  Villa Shanti  Villa Helena, Celine’s Kitchen, DisDis&Co, Satsunga, Le Club, Rendezvous, Villa Krish, Coromandel Cafe, and many more. A pretty resort, Ocean Spray While some might find it illogical to prefer a certain institute just because of the restaurants near it, for me it certainly is a valid point. As a medical student, it’s very important to take breaks and these beautiful places will surely take you to a different world.  However, JIPMER is suitable only for UG. For PG, AIIMS Bhubaneswar is the best option because the language barrier is a major problem in the South. Overall, JIPMER is an excellent option for UG while AIIMS Bhubaneswar can be preferred for PG,Read more
