Ques. Which is better for engineering, GNDU or PTU?

Ans. PTU and GNDU both are well-reputed colleges that have unique strengths and weaknesses. While PTU is a bit flexible in terms of exam pattern, GNDU follows the rule of a year back. The choice of the college also depends on the course you will be studying. Usually, PTU fares better in most cases.  Ultimately, it all depends on the college or university campus you are taking admission. Most colleges in Punjab have a pathetic academic ambiance. So go for the main campus of any university else look for a decent college in your area. In all, GNDU offers better placement opportunities provided that you are on the main campus.Read more

Ques. How is PTU Jalandhar for a B.Tech?

Ans. One of my friends was admitted to PTU and does not recommend its B.tech course. The quality of education is below-average and you won't learn much from the university. The placement scenario is pathetic and more than 30% of the students remain unplaced. The highest salary package offered is 6 LPA and the top recruiters include Wipro, Tech Mahindra, HCL, etc. Students get placed in minor roles in software companies. The infrastructure however isn't that bad and the college has decent lab facilities and a well-stocked library. The hostel facilities are also decent and the food served is good.  Unless you are satisfied with a low package below INR 10 LPA, it's better to look for a better college.Read more

Ques. can I get admission in CGC Landran through PTU Counseling for CSE branch from outside Punjab of the general category? I got a 200000 rank in the JEE Mains but I got 68 percent in boards.

Ans. CGC Landran is a private engineering college located in Punjab, India. The admission process for the college is conducted through JEE Main and Punjab Technical University (PTU) counseling. As per the JEE Main rank mentioned by you, it is difficult to get admission to the CSE branch in CGC Landran. However, the final decision regarding admission will depend on various factors such as the number of available seats, the number of applicants, and the cutoff score. As per the admission rules, PTU colleges cannot admit students until the online admission is completed. Only the remaining are given admission directly. Usually, students don’t apply online. If you are adamant about PTU, go only to the PTU main campus or Guru Nanak Engg College Ludhiana. CGC should not be given much preference as it is all about inflated figures and misleading statistics. Read more

Ques. Which should my daughter choose, a CSE from IGDTUW or a ECE from NSIT/DTU/IIIT Delhi?

Ans. this is actually a really good question and the answer depends on what career path your daughter is aiming for. CSE at IGDTUW — it's an all-women's government university in Delhi, excellent campus environment for women students, strong alumni network in Delhi tech companies, government college fees (very affordable), and CSE is the best branch to be in for software careers. the women-only campus is a genuine advantage in terms of safety and focused academic culture. ECE at NSIT/DTU/IIIT Delhi — all three are mixed-gender, more prestigious institutions. IIIT Delhi ECE specifically is excellent for tech — the institute has a strong coding culture and ECE students regularly get SWE roles. DTU and NSUT ECE are decent but the branch doesn't give the same software career advantage as CSE. honest recommendation: if she wants a software/tech career — CSE at IGDTUW is probably better than ECE at DTU/NSUT. branch matters more than college here if the option is ECE at IIIT Delhi specifically — that's a tough call, IIIT Delhi is genuinely strong and ECE students do well in placements there for family comfort and safety — IGDTUW being all-women and govt-managed is a significant factor for many familiesRead more

Ans. Never choose a college based on its highest package. Those discussions are often misleading. Always focus on the average package instead. That said, here's my take on your question. If I were in your position, I would choose NSUT for IT, and here’s why: Competition - At DTU, you'll encounter significant competition from students in COE/IT/SE/MCE, all of which are IT branches. The total student strength adds up to 362 + 122 + 122 + 122 = 768 (and I haven’t even included ECE students yet). So, there's a lot of competition. You might feel confident in your abilities and think competition doesn’t matter. But ultimately, your success during placements at DTU will heavily rely on luck.Read more
