BIMSR P.B.B.Sc Nursing FAQs
Ques. Who is eligible for P.B.B.Sc Nursing at BIMSR?
Ans. Only candidates who have completed GNM and are registered as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with a State Nursing Council can apply. A 10+2 or equivalent pass and current council registration are also required. The course is meant for working and diploma-qualified nurses looking to upgrade their diploma to a recognised degree, not for fresh school-leavers entering nursing for the first time without a prior diploma.
Ques. Is there an entrance exam for admission?
Ans. No entrance examination is conducted for this programme. Admission is decided purely on merit, using the marks secured in the GNM qualifying examination. Candidates submit the application form with their documents, and the institute publishes a merit list before document verification and seat confirmation. Higher marks in the GNM examination therefore improve a candidate’s chance of securing a seat in the limited intake, since there is no separate written test or interview to clear.
Ques. What is the total fee for the programme?
Ans. The total course fee is INR 3,36,000 for the full two-year duration, payable annually. A one-time application fee of INR 2,000 is collected at admission. Hostel and mess charges, where opted, are billed separately and are not part of the tuition figure mentioned above. Eligible students can offset a part of these costs through state and central government scholarship schemes available for nursing candidates.
Ques. How long is the P.B.B.Sc Nursing course?
Ans. The programme runs for 2 years as a full-time course. It builds on the GNM diploma and covers advanced nursing concepts, midwifery, community health, nursing education and administration. Clinical postings in the affiliated hospital and field areas form an integral part of both years, ensuring graduates gain hands-on competence alongside the theory taught in the classroom.
Ques. Can I pursue M.Sc Nursing after this course?
Ans. Yes. After completing P.B.B.Sc Nursing, graduates become eligible to apply for M.Sc Nursing, subject to the usual one-year experience and admission requirements of the chosen college. The degree therefore serves as a recognised pathway from a diploma qualification towards postgraduate study, specialisation, teaching positions in nursing schools and senior clinical or administrative roles in the health sector.
Ques. Does BIMSR provide clinical training during the course?
Ans. Yes. Students complete supervised clinical postings in the institute’s affiliated hospital and in community health settings. These rotations cover medical, surgical, maternity and community nursing, giving registered nurses structured exposure to higher-level practice alongside their classroom learning. The hospital tie-up ensures adequate patient load and case variety for meaningful clinical learning. Faculty supervise each rotation and assess practical skills as part of the internal evaluation across the two-year programme.
