Government Medical College, Amritsar was founded in 1920, and is formerly known as Glancy Medical College. In 1947 at the time of partition, it was the only medical college present in Northern India. It is now being governed by Director Research and Medical Education, Punjab. The college is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. It has a 200 bedded emergency and super speciality block.
