SIMSRC MS FAQs
Ques. Are government-quota MS seats at SIMSRC Bangalore available and what are the fees?
Ans. Yes, SIMSRC Bangalore has government-quota and management-quota MS seats across all four specialisations. Government-quota fees are regulated by the Karnataka State Fee Regulatory Committee and are substantially lower than the management quota fees shown in the fees table. Candidates eligible for government-quota seats must participate in MCC PG counselling (AIQ) or RGUHS/KEA counselling (state quota). The exact government-quota fee for 2026-27 should be confirmed with SIMSRC’s admissions office or the Karnataka Fee Regulatory Committee.
Ques. Can candidates from outside Karnataka get MS seats at SIMSRC Bangalore?
Ans. Yes. All India Quota (AIQ) MS seats at SIMSRC Bangalore are open to NEET PG qualifiers from any state through MCC PG counselling at mcc.nic.in. Karnataka state-quota seats are reserved for domicile candidates through RGUHS/KEA counselling. Management-quota seats can be applied for directly with SIMSRC regardless of domicile, subject to NMC guidelines.
Ques. What is the surgical training environment like at SIMSRC for MS residents?
Ans. SIMSRC’s 1,070-bed multi-speciality teaching hospital in Bangalore provides high-volume surgical training across all four MS specialisations. Residents receive progressive operative exposure under senior faculty supervision, supplemented by journal clubs, case presentations, grand rounds, and mortality and morbidity reviews. Assessment is through continuous internal evaluation and RGUHS university theory and practical examinations. The hospital’s breadth across surgical specialities supports cross-disciplinary exposure during the 3-year residency.
Ques. Is the SIMSRC MS degree valid for NEET-SS super-speciality training after completion?
Ans. Yes. The MS degree from SIMSRC is awarded by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka, and is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). RGUHS-affiliated MS graduates are eligible to appear for NEET-SS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Super Specialties) for DM or MCh programmes at recognised institutions, subject to qualifying the NEET-SS examination.
Ques. How is the management quota admission process different from government quota at SIMSRC?
Ans. Government-quota seats are filled through centralised counselling: AIQ through MCC PG counselling at mcc.nic.in and state quota through RGUHS/KEA counselling. Management-quota seats are filled directly by SIMSRC in accordance with NMC and Karnataka government norms, with fees regulated differently. Candidates interested in management-quota seats should contact SIMSRC directly after NEET PG 2026 results are declared in September 2026 and provide their NEET PG scorecard.
