RGUHS Admission Process

Admission to all RGUHS-affiliated colleges is centrally governed. RGUHS itself does not allot seats directly. The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) manages state quota counselling for MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, and B.Pharm. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) governs All India Quota seats, which constitute 15 per cent of total seats at government colleges.

MBBS and BDS Admission

The eligibility for MBBS and BDS is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate marks for General Category (40 per cent for SC/ST/OBC). A valid NEET UG score is mandatory for all candidates including NRI applicants. The admission steps are as follows:

  • Step 1: Qualify NEET UG with the required percentile for the category
  • Step 2: Register on the KEA Karnataka portal at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in
  • Step 3: Complete document verification at a designated KEA help centre
  • Step 4: Exercise college and course preferences during Option Entry window
  • Step 5: Receive seat allotment result and report online to confirm
  • Step 6: Report physically to the allotted college within the stipulated date

Closing ranks for General Category MBBS seats at government colleges under RGUHS vary by institution and category. Candidates are advised to check KEA allotment data from prior rounds on the official KEA portal for institution-wise cutoffs.

AYUSH Programmes (BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BNYS)

Eligibility requires 10+2 with PCB and a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Admission is through NEET UG followed by KEA Karnataka counselling. AYUSH admissions follow the same timeline as MBBS counselling rounds conducted by KEA.

MD, MS, and MDS Admission

Postgraduate medical admission requires a valid NEET PG score. Candidates must hold an MBBS degree (for MD/MS) or BDS degree (for MDS) with a completed internship and a valid Medical or Dental Council registration. Karnataka state quota seats are allotted by KEA. All India Quota seats are allotted by MCC through national-level NEET PG counselling.

Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Health Sciences

B.Pharm admission is through KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) for Karnataka state candidates. B.Sc Nursing and allied health programmes admit candidates on the basis of NEET UG score or merit in 10+2 PCB, depending on the affiliated college. M.Pharm and M.Sc Nursing admissions are conducted through PGCET Karnataka.

RGUHS Career Outcomes

RGUHS, as an affiliating university, does not conduct campus placements. Career outcomes depend on programme type and the individual affiliated college. MBBS graduates from government colleges under RGUHS have strong entry into Karnataka government health services through direct state recruitment and mandatory rural service bonds post-graduation.

Graduates from RGUHS-affiliated private medical colleges with established hospital networks report placement support through their parent hospital groups.

RGUHS Campus and Infrastructure

The RGUHS headquarters campus covers 44 acres in 4th T Block, Jayanagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka. The campus houses central administrative offices, an examination division, a central digital library, and a learning management system that supports case-based learning and online assessments for registered affiliated students.

RGUHS maintains a centralised Online Student Admission Portal and a Scholarship Portal for meritorious and socially disadvantaged students. The university processes over 3 lakh candidates annually across undergraduate and postgraduate health science examinations. RGUHS operates a dedicated anti-ragging cell and grievance redressal mechanism as mandated by UGC and NMC regulations.

RGUHS vs Dr. MGR Medical University vs MUHS

RGUHS, Dr. MGR Medical University (Tamil Nadu), and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) are the three major state health science affiliating universities in peninsular India. Each governs health science education in its respective state, affiliates hundreds of colleges, and channels admissions through NEET and state counselling mechanisms. Aspirants choosing to study in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, or Maharashtra will interact with the respective university for examination, degree conferral, and regulatory oversight.

Are repeaters eligible for gold medals in MBBS rguhs?

Rajat TokasFormer Student

Only regular students are eligible to receive a gold medal for achieving the highest marks in a particular subject or for the highest score in an academic year. Repeaters, unfortunately, are not eligible for this recognition.

However, this doesn't mean that repeaters should feel discouraged or disheartened. There are other ways to excel academically and achieve success. By focusing on your studies and consistently putting in the effort, you can still achieve your academic goals and earn good grades.

It's important to remember that success is not just measured by awards or recognition, but also by personal growth and improvement. So, don't give up on your academic pursuits and continue to work hard towards achieving your goals. With dedication and perseverance, anything is possible.

How do I apply for the RGUHS permanent certificate MBBS? I didn't receive it through mail till date.

Nidhi BanerjeeMBBS from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS)

If you haven’t received your permanent certificate from RGUHS, you should contact your college or university. There can be two likely cases - your college hasn’t forwarded the convocation form to RGUHS, or you forgot to submit the application form.

If you have the original application form and you haven’t submitted it, you can contact RGUHS. They will verify your MBBS mark sheets, certificates and provide you with the degree certificate.

If you don’t have the application form then you should have a Xerox copy. Check if the Xerox copy has RUHS seal with date on it. If there’s no seal and date, then RGUHS, hasn't received your application. You should contact your college for further details.

At Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), B.Pharmacy admission is not done through CUET, but through state exams like KCET. So, no official CUET cutoff is available. For the EWS category, the cutoff depends on KCET ranks and varies yearly, falling in the mid- to lower-rank ranges.
