AMCEC BE Lateral FAQs
Ques. Who is eligible for BE lateral entry at AMCEC?
Ans. Candidates must hold a diploma in the relevant or an allied engineering branch from an AICTE-approved institution with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories). B.Sc. graduates with Mathematics may also qualify under VTU lateral-entry norms.
Ques. Which exam is required for lateral entry at AMCEC?
Ans. The Karnataka DCET, conducted by KEA, is the entrance route for government-quota lateral seats. DCET 2026 was held on May 23, 2026, with results in June and counselling from July 2026. Management-quota seats do not need a DCET rank.
Ques. Which year do lateral-entry students join at AMCEC?
Ans. Lateral-entry students join directly in the second year, completing the BE in three years across six semesters. The curriculum, labs, and final-year capstone project are identical to the regular four-year programme for the same branch.
Ques. Which lateral BE branch is cheapest and costliest at AMCEC?
Ans. Civil, Electrical & Electronics, and Mechanical lateral entry are the most affordable at INR 4,35,000. Computer Science and Engineering is the costliest at INR 12,45,000, followed by Data Science at INR 10,50,000, reflecting demand for computing branches.
Ques. Can B.Sc graduates apply for lateral BE at AMCEC?
Ans. Yes. B.Sc. graduates with Mathematics as a subject may be admitted to lateral entry under VTU norms, alongside diploma holders. They must meet the minimum marks requirement and, for government-quota seats, hold a valid Karnataka DCET score.
Ques. Are management-quota lateral seats available at AMCEC?
Ans. Yes. Besides DCET government-quota seats, AMCEC fills lateral-entry management-quota seats through direct application based on diploma marks. These seats follow the higher institutional fee, and a one-time admission fee and other charges apply separately.
