Ques. What should I prefer, KJ Somaiya IT or CS from Thadomal Shahani?

● Top Answer By Rishabh Suman on 01 Jun 21

Ans. There isn't much of a difference between IT and CS, forget institutes individually where you would pursue them. Both CS and IT happen to consist of more or less the same subjects and the course pattern is also similar. There are only a handful of subjects that do not match when it comes to the subject courses of CS and IT and trust me, that isn't as important as it seems.  Eventually, it is all about your choice of college. It is assumed that you have done some prior research beforehand on the institutes. A former student of this institute who I know would also suggest not giving too much importance to the branches either.  Also, special mention to KJ Somaiya as along with the benefits of autonomy, you would be able to grab better placement opportunities for yourself at reputed companies with a handsome salary package. The top recruiters of the students of KJ Somaiya are Cognizant, PwC, Amazon, etc. Till now, 90% of students have been placed and the CTC was as high as 29.75 LPA and the average CTC stood at 9.4 LPA. Banking, Financial Services, IT are the sectors which recruited the most students.Read more

Ques. Which one is better: the K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering or the Vivekanand Education Society's Institute of Technology?

● Top Answer By Piyali Chakraborty on 10 May 21

Ans. While choosing an institute the first thing you need to consider is the distance between the institute and your home. Except for this consideration, the overall rankings of these two colleges are quite close to each other But, if you don’t have any issues with traveling daily or staying in the hostel, then consider the following factors in order to choose the right institute. Infrastructure: Both of these institutes have good infrastructures. You can visit the official websites of these two institutes to understand what type of infrastructural facilities are provided. Placement: In this case, your resume matters a lot to get placed in the on-campus recruitment process for both of these institutes. Here is the highlight of recent placement statistics for these two institutes.  Criteria K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering Vivekanand Education Society's Institute of Technology Highest CTC 24 LPA 20-23 LPA Lowest CTC 6.5 LPA 3.7 LPA Average CTC 3-3.5 LPA 3-3.5 LPA Placement Statistics 75-85% 70-80% University: KJSCE is an autonomous institute, but VESIT is under Mumbai University so the former has an upper hand. This autonomous identity of Kjsce helps to better design academics. Additionally, it allows the college administration to control the entire exam procedure, which is much better than Mumbai University. Besides, the students also get an opportunity to do internships in the reputed MNCs, with a longer vacation. It looks good on the resume. Sports: There is no comparison of KJSCE with VESIT, as the previous one has an extraordinary football turf. This institute also has a good badminton court and a running track. Campus: Except for the campus of IITB, KJSCE probably has the biggest campus in Mumbai. Both of these are pretty good options so choose according to your convenience. Read more

Ques. Can I take admission in KJ Somaiya over DJ Sanghvi (package-wise) for B.Tech?

● Top Answer By Lavisha Khurana on 17 Apr 21

Ans. It is advisable to not compare colleges based on the package because the package that you will get largely depends upon how you perform in the interview. Colleges try their best to bring the best possible companies in the placement drive but it is you and your overall performance that will determine your placement in a particular company.  These may include -  How good your CV is. Your technical skills. Your soft skills. Your administrative and managerial skills. Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and your ability to handle these along with your academics. Independent thinking ability. Learning capability. Most importantly, your attitude. If you work and develop these sets of skills, you will undoubtedly be placed with the best company visiting your campus and also may get the highest package. To conclude, instead of looking at the package, look at the department that you are getting and also what interests you. Then decide which college will be best for you.Read more

Ques. What is a salary package after completing a B. Tech in Computer engineering from KJ Somaiya?

● Top Answer By Poonam Jain on 01 Apr 21

Ans. The college offers a package ranging from 3 LPA to 12 LPA. The placement process starts at the beginning of the 7th semester till the middle of the 8th semester.  Some companies are categorized as dream and non-dream companies by the students themselves. The companies which offer a package of 5 LPA or above are termed as the dream company and the one that offers a package of less than 5 LPA are termed as the non-dream companies. Companies offering a dream package for CSE and IT are aplenty. Categories Computer Engineering at KJ Somaiya Course Fee 11.44 lakh Placement Percentage 80-100% Highest CTC 13 LPA Average CTC 5 LPA Recruiting Companies Microsoft, Capgemini, Accenture, Wipro, Info Edge, IBM, TCS, Infosys, etc. Furthermore, if you end up being the lucky one among all the students and get selected in any of the dream companies in the first attempt itself, then you cannot sit for any other company and will have to take up that job. But if you are selected in two non-dream companies, you are no more eligible to sit for the placement process any further. You have to select any one of the two companies you have been selected for. To get a good, impressive package, you need to maintain a good CGPA which is 6.0-7.5 and above. All the ATKTs must be clear, only then you would be able to see the various opportunities that would come your way.Read more

Ques. What are the disadvantages of attending KJ Somaiya College of Engineering?

● Top Answer By Aditya Godambe on 01 Apr 21

Ans. KJSCE is an amazing institution in terms of academics, placements, and college life. The autonomous status of the college allows it to have a better curriculum as compared to Mumbai University and makes it comparable to the curriculum of the likes of VJTI. Some of the advantages that you might experience here are: The length of these papers is around 100 marks, in general as compared to the exams of MU which are 80 marks. The exam structure is very hectic. Sometimes, the students get only one-week of preparatory leave. The students get a gap of just one or two days between two exams. The faculty members are good but they aren’t able to complete the syllabus on time. Being a Gujrati minority college, it is an all-vegetarian campus (This might be a disadvantage only if you are a non-vegetarian.  The college is not air-conditioned. You will thoroughly enjoy the 4 years of your graduation and meet some amazing people and make great friends over here.Read more

Yeah the major and only issue of KJSCE is the fees hike There is a major fee hike each year here Cost to study is above 1.5 Lakh And most of the time students with poor background can't afford it So this is one of the cons of KJSCE No scholarship, no financial assistance, and no job on campus with a stipend This is the only bad thing about KJSCE

Yeah, this is the only factor that affects talented students who are not that rich, Because KJSCE have a very huge fees hike every year Cost to study is above 1 Lakh for all the branches There is personally no scholarship for an individual provided by the college Neither financial assistant nor Job with stipend So it becomes very difficult for a middle-class family to afford this college since it is one of the best colleges in Mumbai.

The fees of KJSCE are quite high than other institutes, but the infrastructure and labs here are better than others. Professors are up-to-date with the trending technologies. The scholarship I opted for is Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Shikshan Shulkh Shishyavrutti Yojna (EBC) that provides a benefit of Rs. 79278 that is almost had of the fees but you require an Income Certificate to apply.

Fees hike in KJSCE is quite high. Here all people just can't afford it. Because fees are above 1 Lakh. KJSCE I think don't provide such scholarships, they have some scheme for people having very low income per annum.

The fee structure was ~1,75,000 per year, this DOES NOT include the hostel charges if you need one. Campus placements for Computers are ample with an average of ~6-8 LPA CTC. There is Financial Assistance and Scholarship, but students need to be active to approach the institution for the same. The fees might be increased owing to conversion to private universities, more details on their website.

"Engineering College Full of Enthusiasm"

As per my CET score, I wanted to go to the College of Engineering, Pune. But unfortunately, I was not applicable for that because of the CET score, so I took KJSCE No, I didn't avail any benefit of quota, as I am a General category student The minimum marks of MHT CET at my time after round 3 was 164 and age-related, no restrictions as such The admission process was very simple. Simply just gone to the college and did the submission of documents and interacted with faculties Fees payment was in the form of Demand Draft
