National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) offers admissions into postgraduate diploma courses on Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Safety and Environmental Management, Manufacturing Management and Project Management.

  • Admissions for PGDPM, PGDMM, PGDIE are done through GATE.
  • Admissions for PGDIM and PGDSEM are done through CAT.
  • Applications for Fellowship programs are done. The Institute reserves the right to conduct the selection any time.
  • Candidates should have full-time Engineering/Technology degree.
  • For Fellow Programme, candidates need to have a Master’s degree with 60% marks and the admissions are application-based conducted by the institute. 
  • Candidates from other countries must possess a valid GMAT and TOEFL/ IELTS score.
  • The application for all courses shall begin from November tentatively.

NITIE Mumbai PG Diploma Eligibility

PGDIEApplicants should have a valid GATE score, with 60% aggregate marks during graduation in any branch of Engineering/Technology. 
PGDMMApplicants should have a valid GATE score, with 60% aggregate marks during graduation the following engineering disciplines – mechanical, production, automobile, chemical, textile, electrical, electronics, industrial engineering, instrumentation and industrial electronics.
PGDIMApplicants should have valid CAT score, with 60% aggregate marks during graduation in any branch of Engineering/Technology. 
  • Final year engineering/technology students can also apply, provided they have to submit their final aggregate score CGPA/Percentage by September.
  • Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC-NC (Non-Creamy) and PwD candidates has been made according to the rules of Govt of India. 

For Sponsored Candidates: 

  • Minimum 60% marks aggregate at graduation in Engineering /Technology 
  • Two years of full-time work experience as on the last date of submission of application
  • GATE/CAT score is not required for sponsored candidates. 

For International Students:

  • 15% of the approved intake (in supernumerary quota) will be reserved for international students
  • Candidates should have a valid GRE and TOEFL / IELTS score, candidates will have to submit an SOP (Statement of purpose) and two LORs (Letters of recommendations) as well.

NITIE Mumbai PG Diploma Selection Criteria

  • Upon selected, all the shortlisted candidates will be called for GD and PI at NITIE, Mumbai.
  • The selection will be based on a Group Discussion (GD) and a Personal Interview (PI) with appropriate weightage to GATE/ GRE/CAT score (as applicable), academic performance and relevant experience

  • Shortlisted International candidates will also be required to attend GD and PI along with Indian students or take up an extempore speech and PI through video conferencing.
  • Candidates shortlisted for admission to the Programme at NITIE will be intimated regarding its details by email and/ or online notification. 
  • Sponsored candidates should also fill in the Sponsorship Form available on the NITIE website. They need to attend a written test and Personal Interview .
  • No teaching assistantship will be provided to Sponsored candidates. 

How to Apply for NITIE Mumbai PG Diploma Courses?

  • Register for the preferred course at the official website of NITIE
  • Enter your personal, educational, work experience, extra-curricular, GATE/CAT score 
  • Enter UG marks semester wise (Aggregate marks will be automatically calculated by taking the average of all the semesters)
  • Pay the application fee online at the ‘Make Payment’ tab
  • Application Fee for each programme is INR 1000. 
  • In case of SC/ST/PwD candidates, application fee is INR 500
  • In case of international students, application fee is USD 50 
  • click on ‘Save’ to save the information. 
  • Once the application filling gets over, record your login credentials for future reference. 

NITIE Mumbai Fellowship Admissions 2020

  • NITIE offers a Doctoral Level Fellowship Programme, of five years (regular and part time (for sponsored candidates), recognized by Ministry of HRD. 
  • It is a programme aimed at shaping individuals such that they become competent enough for a career in academics, research, business, and consulting.

The program includes both 

  • Regular Full time (With Financial Assistance and Without Financial Assistance); and 
  • Sponsored candidates (Full Time sponsored and Part Time sponsored). 

For regular full-time candidates

  • they have to carry out the full term as residential program and categorized into for financial assistance and non-financial assistance. 
  • Candidates will receive INR 25,000 during 1st and 2nd year of the Fellow programme and 28,000 INR during 3rd, 4th and 5th year of the Fellow programme as per MHRD guidelines.

Financial assistance shall be provided fulfilling any one of the following criteria: 

  • Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology through GATE qualification, preferably within the last 5 years.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology, Management, Economics, Commerce, Social Sciences and Pure Sciences with valid GATE/NET-JRF qualification. 

For sponsored candidates from Industry, Academic Institutions, Government and other organizations, no financial assistance shall be provided to them. 

Full Time Sponsored: Candidate shall be for doing research work in the Institute on a full-time basis sponsored by a recognized R & D organization, Academic Institute, government organization. 

Part Time Sponsored: Candidate is professionally employed person, who pursue the Fellow Program while continuing the duties of his/her service. 

The research work leading to Fellow Degree may be carried out largely in the parent organization under the overall guidance provided by a faculty member of the Institute along with a local guide. 

NITIE Mumbai Fellowship Eligibility

Fellowship programApplicants should have with 60% aggregate marks in any field of their post graduation. 
  • Candidates appearing for their final examination in the respective disciplines can also apply, provided they need to submit their result latest by September 30. 
  • For sponsored candidates, they must have two years of full time work experience as on last date of application. If selected, they have to stay in the campus for one-year regular course. 
  • Candidates need to produce sponsorship certificate (at the time of application) and relieving certificate (at the time of joining) from the employer
  • No financial assistance shall be provided to the sponsored candidates.
  • Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC-NC (Non-Creamy) and PwD candidates has been made according to the rules of Govt of India.

NITIE Mumbai Fellowship Selection Criteria

  • Shortlisting of candidates will be done based on the evaluation of Research Proposal invited during the application stage and will be intimated by email and/ or online notification only. 
  • Candidates will be called for NITIE Admission Test, Writing Skills Test, Research Presentation and PI (Personal Interview) at NITIE, Mumbai. 
  • The Admission test shall have three sections namely Analytical Skills, Logical Reasoning, and Research Aptitude. 
  • For Writing Skills test, fellow applicants will be asked to write a summary (150 / 200 words) of Research /General article. 
  • All candidates have to appear for a Research Presentation and Personal Interview. Research Presentation will be based on the research proposal submitted by the fellow candidates. 
  • This would be followed by a personal interview which will be based on subject knowledge, motivation for doing research, communication skills, and overall assessment. 
  • Final merit list shall be prepared based on the performance of the candidates in the different evaluation stages, and candidates will be intimated by email. 
  • On the given date, candidates will be asked to report to NITIE Mumbai, for document verification, submission of fees and hostel accommodation formalities

How to Apply for NITIE Mumbai Fellowship?

  • Enter your personal, educational, work experience, extra-curricular details. 
  • Candidates should submit their Research Proposal (Maximum 1500 words).
  • All sponsored candidates should submit the Sponsorship Certificate, available at the website.

NITIE Mumbai Scholarship

  • All GATE qualified candidates who take admissions will get Teaching Assistantship of Rs.12400/- per month and contingency expenditure as per rules.
  • SC/ST candidates will be eligible for the Central Sector Scholarship as per the scheme of Govt. of India subject to the satisfactory fulfilment of eligibility.

Waiver of Tuition Fee: 

  • 30% Waiver Scheme - Any student whose total family income does not exceed Rs. 2.50 lakhs in the last financial year shall be eligible for 30% waiver in Tuition fee . 
  • 50% Waiver Scheme – Any student whose total family income does not exceed Rs. 1.00 lakh in the last financial year shall be eligible for 50% waiver in Tuition fee. 


Ques. What is the highest placement offered among the students of NITIE?

Ans. The highest salary offered among the students was 46.50 LPA for domestic location and 55LPA for an international location. The average salary offered among the students was 18.45 LPA

Ques. How much has the package offered increased in comparison to last year, in NITIE Mumbai?

Ans. Compares to the previous year, the average salary has increased by 16.55%.

Ques. What is the cutoff for PGDIM? Will I have to apply separately to the college later?

Ans. The cutoff for NITIE Mumbai is 97 percentile for CAT. For the degrees it differs. PDGDIM is 97 percentile. And yes, you have to apply separately through online application form at the official website of NITIE Mumbai. 

Ques. In which language group discussion and personal interview is to be taken?

Ans. You should speak the language in which you are comfortable and it's understandable by the group and the interviewing panel. Preferable: English.

Ans. Yes, you can get admissions into NITIE Mumbai. You have to make sure you meet the cutoff GATE score for the courses.

Ans. A contingency grant of Rs.30,000/- per annum is available to the regular category research fellows.

Ans. NITIE is located in Powai in the city of Mumbai. The nearest Airport is the Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport. Nearby railway stations are Vikhroli and Kanjurmarg. From those places you can reach NITIE by a cab or auto (rickshaw)
