SAKEC Admission Dates 2027

Admissions for the 2026-27 academic session at SAKEC have concluded via MHT-CET CAP rounds. The CAP Round registration deadline was 12 July 2026. The next cycle for the 2027-28 session follows the standard MHT-CET 2027 timeline, with registration expected in early 2027.

SAKEC Courses and Fees

SAKEC offers 12 regular BE and BTech branches, 8 BTech lateral entry branches, 3 B.Voc programmes, and 3 MTech specialisations. All fees shown are total programme costs. BE and BTech fees are identical across all 12 branches under Maharashtra Fee Regulatory norms.

The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) is available to students from families with annual income below INR 4 Lakhs, substantially reducing the fee burden. VLSI Design and Technology and Advanced Communication Technology are hardware-specialist BE programmes rarely available at Mumbai city colleges. SAKEC has no on-campus hostel. Students arrange independent accommodation in the Chembur and Govandi areas.

SAKEC Admission Process

SAKEC follows a single-track admission process with no management quota. All BE and BTech seats are filled through the Maharashtra Centralised Admission Process (CAP). This makes SAKEC’s admission purely merit-driven based on MHT-CET or JEE Main scores.

BE and BTech (First Year)

• Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Minimum 45% aggregate (40% for reserved categories under Maharashtra norms)
• Entrance: Valid MHT-CET PCM score or JEE Main score
• Selection stages: MHT-CET or JEE score submission, CAP registration at mahacet.org, preference filling (college and branch), allotment in CAP Rounds (typically 3 rounds), reporting to college, and document verification

SAKEC reserves a Minority Quota within the CAP framework for candidates from the Kutchhi Gujarati community. A valid community certificate is required. Closing percentile for CAP at SAKEC is moderately competitive within the Mumbai tier of University of Mumbai-affiliated colleges.

BTech Lateral Entry

Diploma holders in the relevant engineering branch may apply for direct second-year (lateral entry) admission via DTE Maharashtra’s lateral entry CAP process. Eligibility requires a relevant Diploma with at least 45% marks.

MTech

MTech admissions at SAKEC require a valid GATE score or a score in the MAH-ME/MTech CET. Candidates must hold a BE/BTech in the relevant branch with at least 50% aggregate. Seats are allocated through Maharashtra CAP or the college’s own process based on the programme’s recognition.

B.Voc

B.Voc programmes in Data Science, Interior Design, and Cyber Security are open to 10+2 graduates from any stream. Admission is merit-based or through a college-level entrance test. These are vocationally-oriented 3-year programmes under the University of Mumbai’s B.Voc framework.

SAKEC Placements

SAKEC recorded a highest package of INR 52 LPA and an average package of INR 4.79 LPA in the 2025 placement season. 178 companies participated in campus recruitment. Computer Engineering, CSE, AI and Data Science, and Cyber Security branches drive the strongest placement outcomes, with roles in software development, IT services, and cyber operations.

Electronics-stream graduates (ECE, E&TC, VLSI) are placed in hardware design, semiconductor, and embedded systems firms alongside IT sector migrations. The VLSI Design and Technology programme gives SAKEC students an edge in hardware and chip design roles in Mumbai’s electronics industry cluster.

SAKEC Campus and Infrastructure

SAKEC occupies a seven-storey building at Waman Tukaram Patil Marg, Chembur, Mumbai. The Govandi railway station on the Harbour Line is the nearest suburban rail link, placing the campus within easy reach of most parts of Mumbai. Chembur itself is a well-developed eastern Mumbai suburb with strong road connectivity to the Eastern Express Highway and the Eastern Freeway.

The campus houses departmental laboratories for each engineering branch, a central library, computing labs, and student activity spaces. SAKEC’s IEEE student chapter is one of the most active in the Mumbai section. NBA accreditation for Computer Engineering and IT recognises the quality of facilities and outcomes for these branches. SAKEC does not provide on-campus hostel facilities. Students typically live in paying guest accommodation in Chembur, Ghatkopar, Govandi, and surrounding suburbs.

SAKEC vs TSEC vs RAIT

Engineering aspirants in Mumbai comparing University of Mumbai-affiliated private engineering colleges typically evaluate SAKEC alongside Thadomal Shahani Engineering College (TSEC, Bandra) and Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology (RAIT, Navi Mumbai). All three draw from the same MHT-CET CAP applicant pool and offer similar programme portfolios under University of Mumbai affiliation.

TSEC holds an NAAC A+ grade and is located in the more centrally connected Bandra area of Mumbai, with strong campus placement outcomes and higher competitiveness in CAP cutoffs. SAKEC’s no-management-quota structure means its entire intake is CAP-merit selected, making it a purer merit benchmark. RAIT in Navi Mumbai caters to aspirants in the Thane-Navi Mumbai belt. All three are comparable for most IT and computing branch applications through MHT-CET.
