MITSoFT Pune Admission Process

MITSoFT does not follow the DTE Maharashtra CAP process for most of its intake. B.Tech admissions are through direct application to MIT ADT University, with merit decided on entrance exam scores. This allows non-Maharashtra candidates to apply on equal footing with Maharashtra-domicile students.

B.Tech Food Technology Admission

Eligibility and selection criteria for the B.Tech programme:

  • 10+2 (HSC or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics as subjects
  • Minimum 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying subjects (40% for reserved categories)
  • Chemistry is mandatory regardless of whether PCB or PCM group is chosen
  • Valid MHT-CET PCB, MHT-CET PCM, JEE Main, NEET UG, or PERA CET score

Selection follows merit on entrance exam percentile. Candidates apply on the MIT ADT University portal, submit documents, and receive a merit-based offer letter. No separate group discussion or interview round is conducted for B.Tech. Lateral entry candidates (diploma or B.Sc holders) are shortlisted based on their qualifying marks without requiring an entrance exam score.

M.Tech Admission

M.Tech in Food Technology and Food Safety and Quality Management requires a valid GATE score or PERA CET score, followed by an institute-level interview. Eligibility requires a B.Tech or B.E. in Food Technology or an allied stream. The M.Tech Working Professionals programme (blended mode) is targeted at candidates with relevant industry experience and follows a flexible schedule compatible with employment.

MITSoFT Pune Placements

MITSoFT Pune operates a dedicated Training and Placement Cell that facilitates campus interviews for B.Tech and M.Tech graduates. The 2024 placement season saw companies from the FMCG and food processing sectors visit the campus for final placements and internships.

Students considering dedicated food technology programmes in Maharashtra compare MITSoFT with both government agricultural university programmes and the more competitive Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai. The three institutions below represent distinct tiers and modes of food technology education available in the state.
