Should you pick IPM at TAPMI Manipal?

This course suits students who want a management degree straight after Class 12 and can live on a residential campus for five years.

Pick it if:
You do not have an IPMAT score: TAPMI also takes JIPMAT, JEE Main, SAT, CLAT or its own MET, so one weak test does not shut the door.
You want the MBA job pool from year one: IPM students are placed with the TAPMI MBA batch, so the same recruiters see you.
You want a degree in hand before the MBA: TAPMI gives you the BBA at the end of year three and the MBA at the end of year five.
You want to know if the fee stays flat: the published fee steps up in years four and five, so plan for a bigger payment near the end.
Skip it if:
You want to live off campus: TAPMI is fully residential, so hostel is compulsory for all five years and adds to what you pay.
You need a room of your choice from day one: the college gives you your first year room, and you pick your roommate only from the second year.
You want a government fee: this is a private institute, so there is no state counselling seat and no state fee on offer here.
You are counting on a published closing score: TAPMI names none for this course, so your marks and the interview decide the seat.
Counsellor's advice
If you clear the Phase 1 interview, take the seat and pay inside that window, because only sixty seats open each year. If money is tight, read the waiver rules first: the waiver needs 7.5 CGPA every year to continue.
IPM Eligibility
Class 12 marks: 60% in Class 12 from a recognised board, with English as a compulsory subject.
Class 10 marks: 60% in Class 10 as well. Both gates are checked before the shortlist.
Test score: A valid score in IPMAT, JIPMAT, JEE Main, SAT, CLAT or TAPMI MET.
Passing year: Class 12 passed in 2023, 2024 or 2025, or appearing in 2026.
IPM Admission Process
Take an accepted test: Sit for IPMAT, JIPMAT, JEE Main, SAT, CLAT or TAPMI MET and keep the scorecard.
Apply in a phase: Phase 1 closes in March and Phase 2 in early May. The form costs INR 800.
Get shortlisted: TAPMI reads your Class 10 and Class 12 marks with your test score.
Interview and micro-presentation: An online round of 20 to 25 minutes decides the seat.
Pay and report: Pay the year 1 fee by the offer letter date, then report with your originals.

In short
IIM Indore pays far more and ranks much higher, but it costs more over five years and takes only its own IPMAT score. If your IPMAT score clears it, pick IIM Indore; if it does not, TAPMI Manipal takes six different tests.
In short
IIM Rohtak pays more and has more than three times the seats, but its published five year cost is more than double this one. If the fee is your limit, stay with TAPMI Manipal; if you can pay, IIM Rohtak is the bigger name.
In short
IIM Ranchi costs a little less, pays more and ranks higher, but every seat there goes through IPMAT alone. If your IPMAT score is strong, try IIM Ranchi first; if not, TAPMI Manipal is the safer form to fill.
In short
IIM Bodh Gaya has twice the seats and a better NIRF rank, but it pays a little less and does not publish a full course fee. If you want a known five year cost, stay with TAPMI Manipal; if the IIM name matters more, apply there as well.

Fees and pay can change. Check each college site before you decide.

FAQs on TAPMI Manipal IPM

Short answers to what students ask before they apply.

How do I get into this course?
Apply on the TAPMI website in Phase 1 or Phase 2 with a score from IPMAT, JIPMAT, JEE Main, SAT, CLAT or TAPMI MET. TAPMI shortlists you on your Class 10 and Class 12 marks and that score. Shortlisted students take an online interview and a micro-presentation.
What is the full fee for the five years?
The full course fee is INR 28.65 Lakhs without hostel. With hostel and mess it comes to INR 36.90 Lakhs. A refundable caution deposit of INR 40,000 is paid once in year 1. The fee block above shows both totals.
Do I need an IPMAT score to apply?
No. TAPMI also takes JIPMAT, JEE Main, SAT, CLAT and its own MET. Any one valid score opens the form, so a weak day on a single test does not shut you out.
How many seats does this course have?
There are 60 seats a year. With a batch that small, your Class 12 marks and the interview matter as much as the test score, so apply in Phase 1 instead of waiting for Phase 2.
Can I get the fee waived?
Yes. TAPMI names three merit waivers, from a full fee freeship to a one fifth cut. The calculator above shows what your score level and family income can claim. The waiver needs 7.5 CGPA every year to continue.
Do I get a degree before the MBA?
Yes. TAPMI gives the BBA at the end of year three and the MBA at the end of year five. Ask the admission office in writing about leaving after the BBA before you plan on it.
When does the next batch form open?
The 2027 form is expected to open in Oct 2026. Phase 1 usually closes in late March and Phase 2 in early May. The dates block above walks the whole cycle.

TAPMI Manipal: 5 Answered Questions

Which would be a wise decision for a management course: TAPMI or MISB Bocconi (say, with 30% scholarship)? I’m interested in specializing in Operations.

Bidita GhoseLives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

TAPMI is considered a great place for students who are interested in IT Domain but there are not many companies that specifically come for operations roles. MISB Bocconi on the other hand is a great place for exposure and has a location advantage but it’s still not worth the money one pays for the course. So given a choice between these two colleges, TAPMI would be a better option.

What is your preference for NMIMS Bangalore, TAPMI, KJ, and Nirma for an MBA course?

Advait JoshiLives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

If you are 25-26 years of age, I would suggest you go for one more attempt along with your job. If you even get into TAPMI with this much experience there are high chances that you will not get a good placement.

Having this much work experience, you can go for MBA from BLACKI (Banglore, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Kozhikode, Indore), XLRI Jamshedpur, FMS, and other premium institutes.

These institutes can easily offer a package of more than 25 lacs and even a good strategy and consulting profile and plus you can get a tag for a lifetime which will help you to accelerate your career.

Which course is better, Narsee Business Analytics, TAPMI PGDM CORE or KJ Somaiya PGDM Core?

Advait JoshiLives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Narsee Monjee's BA, TAPMI's PGDM Core, and KJ Somaiya's PGDM Core have been praised by industry professionals. The perfect program for you relies on your preferences, goals, and skills.

Data analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence are the focus of NM’s BA program. Data analytics and allied students are targeted by the program. The program emphasizes technical skills and hands-on experience through projects and internships.

Finance, marketing, operations, and strategy are included in TAPMI's PGDM Core program. The program is for students who want to learn a wide range of management principles and abilities that may be used in numerous fields.

KJ Somaiya's PGDM Core program is also a general management program. Students acquire critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in the program.

Narsee Monjee's Business Analytics program is ranked higher by most major ranking organizations than TAPMI's PGDM Core and KJ Somaiya's. Rankings shouldn't be the only factor when making a decision.
