Ques. Which one is better, IMT-G finance vs. XIMB (HR)?

● Top Answer By Risha Sinha on 17 Jun 21

Ans. You should first figure out which sector interests you more. Finance and HR are two completely different courses and you should rather opt for the course you are more inclined towards. But if we were to draw a comparison between IMT G Finance and XIMB HR, the latter is potentially the better choice, since HR is the flagship course of XLRI.  Here are some recent statistics regarding the institutes.  Institutes IMT G XIMB Average CTC 10-15 LPA 15.51 LPA Highest CTC 38 LPA 24 LPA Course Fee  19.53 lakhs 20.30 lakhs Top Recruiters  Amazon, DE Shaw, Flipkart, Wipro, HDFC, ICICI, Lenskart Deloitte, Airtel, Accenture, BNY Mellon Although in overall ranking IMT G beats XLRI, HR is the forte of XLRI. Whereas IMT G is considered to be among the top marketing campuses in India. Hope this solves your doubt.Read more

Ques. What option would be better between XIMB HRM and LBSIM Delhi, keeping package, exposure, fees(loan amount) and career opportunities in mind for a fresher?

● Top Answer By Prakash Gupta on 16 Jun 21

Ans. While choosing a B-School, there are many parameters that need to be considered. The most important one, being your area of interest.  If you want a career in HR, then XIMB HRM is the obvious choice. It a dedicated course focused on HR. Whereas, if you are not sure about your specialization yet then choosing LBSIM PGDM will be better.  Do thorough research on the CTC and job profiles offered at both institutes too. You can look up the placement reports of the Institutes for the same.  Here are some recent statistics regarding the institutes.  Parameters XIMB LBSIM Fees INR 10.8 LPA INR 6.73 LPA No of students placed 374 280 Highest CTC INR 24 LPA INR 32 LPA Average CTC INR 15.51 LPA INR 9.2 LPA Also, if you have the option, you can take CAT once more and aim for a Tier 1 B-School.Read more

Ques. Which will be a better option for a B.Tech fresher, HRM in XIMB or PGDM in Great Lakes Chennai?

● Top Answer By Souvick De on 16 Jun 21

Ans. You should first be well-versed with your idea of what you exactly want to pursue. If you decide to go ahead with HRM then go ahead for XIMB. XIMB is great for HRM. You will get plenty of opportunities in terms of academics and placement. As a fresher, you will get to learn everything that you need to develop business acumen.  On the other hand, Great Lakes is the institution that provides you an edge in terms of education, faculty, and many others. You can pursue a full-time course here with a healthy study environment along with placement opportunities. If you are not yet sure about which field of specialization, you want to get into then choosing Grate Lakes is better, as you will get to do a general MBA in the first year and can choose the specialization in the 2nd year.  Here are some recent statistics regarding the institutes. Institute  XIMB Great Lakes Average CTC 15.51 LPA 10.4 LPA Highest CTC 24 LPA 21.5 LPA Major Recruiters  Deloitte, Accenture, Airtel Dell, HCL, Cognizant, Infosys So, take all these factors into account and choose according to your convenience.Read more

Ques. Can I get a call from XIMB HR with an NMAT score of 189?

● Top Answer By Soumita Baxi on 16 Jun 21

Ans. Most probably, no. Here are some reasons why you have negligible chances with this score. Conservative estimates put XIMB HR in the 205+ score range whereas generous estimates put XIMB HR in the 190+ score range. According to the 2020 trends, the NMAT cutoff for XIMB is 200.  XIMB is one of the prime management colleges with a great curriculum and great placements, thus leaving no reasons for the cutoff to go below 190. 190 is even lower than generous estimates for NMIMS Bangalore and NMIMS Hyderabad, which are not as good as XIMB, as per most national-level rankings. Although there are little to no chances, you never know what is the trend each year. You may get selected next year or maybe not, it all depends on the number of seats and highest score. The best advice here is to prepare well and give a retake.Read more

Ques. Should I join XIMB or wait for another year and try again for IIMs?

● Top Answer By Aritra Sahu on 14 Jun 21

Ans. It depends on you whether you want to join XIMB or try for IIM one more time. If you have the option to take a drop and pursue again it’s worth it. The only condition is that you will have to hustle more than ever and commit even harder than before. If you have work experience of 2 years and can manage a year of preparation then definitely go for another try at IIM. However, if you have no option of taking a drop and have to choose XIMB it is still great as XIMB is also one of the leading B-schools in the country in every way. Also, with work experience of more than 2-4 years, XIMB will boost your CV. If you are fresher then taking a year off may not be wise. As during placements your records will be seen and it may create some negative impression.Read more

The overall course fee was around 22 lakhs (academics + hostel). Mess charges for me were around 5k per month, depends on the number of meals you consume. No other mandatory charges are taken from the institute. Various banks offer education loans for the same. SBI bank's Fortune Towers branch is located next to XIMB. I availed loan from CBI at an interest rate of 7.55% p.a. CBI also has a provision of giving 10k per month to students for their allowances, it is added to the overall education loan. I availed this scheme. Interest rates across various banks are similar. I got an internship in one of the leading global banks at a stipend of 50k per month, for two months. For the final placements, I got placed with a leading ed-tech startup firm at a CTC of 16 Lakhs.

"My college experience"

The colleges I had applied was only the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. I took admission in the same through General Category only, which did not involve any kind of quota. The Program I had applied to was an MBA in Business Administration which is a flagship program of XIMB. The admission criteria were atleast 94 percentile in XAT/CAT for General Category, which was the minimum requirement for undergoing any counselling process. The Counselling process involved two processes: Group Debate and then a personal interview based on an essay that was given on the spot to the candidates by the counselling team. In the group debate round, a common topic was given, for which there was a

"XIMB is X-cellent!"

XIMB is a well-reputed college and ranks 31 according to NIRF rankings. I attended IMS Coaching in Cannaught Place, New Delhi. My faculties and mentors advised me to join this B-school apart from the other options I had. I appeared for XAT examination on 6th January 2019, and applied to XIMB through the same score. I got a call for GD and the interview process on 14th February. The process was held sometime in March and the final admission results were released sometime in May. The session for 19-21 commenced on 17th June.
