IHM Kolkata Admission Dates 2027

IHM Kolkata admissions for the 2026 batch have concluded. NCHM JEE 2026 was conducted by NTA in May 2026 and the three-round counselling process was completed by August 2026. The 2027 admission cycle will be anchored by NCHM JEE 2027, with registration expected to open in February 2027 and the exam scheduled in May 2027.

IHM Kolkata Courses and Fees

IHM Kolkata offers hospitality programmes from the craftsmanship level to the postgraduate level. The 3-year BSc HHA is the flagship programme with a total fee of INR 4,86,515. All fees are government-determined through NCHMCT.

The BSc HHA programme covers all four operational departments: Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Front Office, and Housekeeping Operations. Practical training includes hotel industrial training placements in Years 2 and 3 at five-star and luxury hotel properties.

IHM Kolkata Admission Process

Admission to the flagship BSc HHA programme is entirely through the centrally conducted NCHM JEE, administered by NTA on behalf of NCHMCT. All government IHMs including IHM Kolkata draw from a single national merit list.

BSc Hospitality and Hotel Administration

• Eligibility: 10+2 from a recognised board with minimum 45% aggregate. Science stream preferred but not mandatory.
• Entrance Exam: NCHM JEE (National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Exam), conducted by NTA
• Selection: NCHM JEE rank followed by online counselling conducted by NCHMCT
• Counselling: 3 rounds, including a mop-up round. Candidates lock their IHM preference and seats are allotted on rank and availability.

IHM Kolkata NCHM JEE 2026 General Category closing rank in Round 1 was 1888. OBC Category Round 1 closing rank was 4537. Reserved category ranks are considerably higher, allowing greater access for SC, ST, and OBC candidates.

MSc Hospitality Administration

• Eligibility: Graduation in Hospitality and Hotel Administration or a related discipline with minimum 50% marks
• Selection: Written test and interview conducted by NCHMCT

Diploma Programmes

• Eligibility: 10+2 from a recognised board (pass marks accepted for most diploma programmes)
• Selection: Merit-based direct admission, with applications through the IHM Kolkata portal
• Duration: 1 year to 1.5 years depending on the programme

IHM Kolkata Placements

IHM Kolkata has an established placement record with India’s top luxury and international hotel chains recruiting directly from campus. The highest placement offer is INR 8 LPA and the average package is INR 4 LPA. Most BSc HHA graduates enter operational roles in Food Production, Food and Beverage, Front Office, or Housekeeping departments at three-star to five-star properties.

The placement process includes pre-placement talks by hotel chains, group discussions, and personal interviews conducted on campus. Students completing industrial training in Year 2 and Year 3 often receive pre-placement offers from their training hotels.

Graduates from IHM Kolkata also take the NCHMCT Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for admission to the IHM’s own postgraduate programme or other hospitality MBA programmes. A section of graduates move into hospitality consulting, food and beverage entrepreneurship, or join cruise liners on international contracts.

IHM Kolkata Campus and Infrastructure

IHM Kolkata operates from its dedicated campus in Kolkata, West Bengal. The campus includes specialised teaching and training facilities that mirror a live hotel environment. The training kitchen block has advanced food production labs, a patisserie lab, and a bakery unit, giving students hands-on exposure to hotel kitchen operations from the first year.

The campus also houses a training restaurant that serves real guests, a front office simulation lab, housekeeping training suites, a library with hospitality and culinary titles, and a computer centre. Boys’ and Girls’ hostels are available on campus at fees ranging from INR 27,050 to INR 29,550 per semester.

All IHM Kolkata students undertake mandatory hotel industrial training during the programme, placed at luxury and five-star hotel properties across India. This paid internship provides structured operational experience in the student’s chosen department before graduation.

IHM Kolkata vs IHM Pusa Delhi vs IHM Mumbai

IHM Kolkata, IHM Pusa Delhi, and IHM Mumbai are all central government IHMs under the Ministry of Tourism, recruiting from the same NCHM JEE national merit list. They serve aspirants across different regions but compete for the same top NCHM JEE scorers.

IHM Pusa Delhi and IHM Mumbai typically attract the highest NCHM JEE scorers due to their location advantage in metro markets. IHM Kolkata is the preferred choice for aspirants from eastern India seeking placement in the Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, and northeast India hospitality market. All three institutes provide comparable faculty quality and training infrastructure as central government IHMs.
