Smt Allamma Sumangalam Memorial Degree College for Women, Bellary, Karnataka, came into existence in the year 1969. It was managed by Veerashaiva Vidavardhaka, Sangha, and Bellary. The number of students with which the college was started was just around 164 and grew gradually. It now has respectable 1000 students on campus. The goal of this college was to impart quality education to women for their empowerment. The college is a full-fledged institute that offers courses related to Degree in Arts, Science, Commerce and Business Management in addition with Computer Application. The college is admired in this region as it has consistently given good results and ranks. The College strives for academic excellence and has gained fame in this regards. The faculties are well experienced and have industrial exposure.The only vision the college has is to strive for intellectual excellence, quality enhancement and global mobility.
