DCET Hyderabad Admission Process

BE First Year

All first-year BE admissions at DCET are channelled through the TS EAMCET process administered by TGCHE. A-category seats (70%) are centrally allotted. B-category seats (30%) are management quota and filled directly by DCET without going through TGCHE counselling.

  • Eligibility: 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry from a recognised board. Minimum 45% marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ST).
  • Telangana local area status is required for reserved category benefits under A-category quota.
  • Stage 1: TS EAMCET result and rank. Registration and option filling on tgeapcet.nic.in for A-category seats.
  • Stage 2: Seat allotment through TGCHE CAP rounds. Report to allotted college within the deadline specified in the allotment letter.
  • B-category candidates contact DCET admissions directly. No TS EAMCET counselling is required for B-category. Minimum eligibility conditions still apply.

The TS EAMCET rank range at DCET for the 2025 cycle was 66,509 to 4,00,296 across branches, indicating it is accessible across a broad rank band. CSE and IT branches attract higher-rank candidates within this range compared to core engineering branches.

BE Lateral Entry, ME, M.Tech, and MCA

Diploma holders may apply for lateral entry BE through TS ECET. ME and M.Tech admissions use TS PGECET or GATE scores through TGCHE counselling. MCA is admitted through TS ICET scores. PG programmes have a combined intake across ME specialisations and M.Tech CSE.

DCET Hyderabad Placements

DCET Hyderabad’s placement activity spans IT services, electronics, and core engineering sectors. IT services companies including TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Cognizant, and Tech Mahindra have recruited from the CSE, IT, and ECE branches. Core engineering branches (Mechanical, Civil, Production Engineering) have historically seen placements with manufacturing and infrastructure companies in the Hyderabad region.

Note: DCET Hyderabad does not publish consolidated placement statistics (highest package, average package, overall percentage) in a verified public format. Placement figures cited on aggregator websites are self-reported and have not been independently verified. Candidates are advised to contact the DCET placement cell directly for the latest placement data.

The college’s location in Hyderabad provides students with access to the broader Hyderabad IT ecosystem for internships and off-campus placement drives, particularly for CSE and IT branch students. The DCET alumni network in the Hyderabad region supports lateral entry and referral-based placements for recent graduates.

DCET Hyderabad Scholarships

DCET Hyderabad students from eligible communities and categories can access Telangana state government scholarships and centrally-administered schemes.

DCET is operated by the Dar-us-salam Educational Trust, which was established to promote higher education among the minority community. Minority community students may be eligible for additional fee concessions at the institutional level. Candidates should enquire with the admissions office for current details.

DCET Hyderabad Campus and Infrastructure

DCET Hyderabad is located in Hyderabad, Telangana, with the campus in the Attapur-Santoshnagar belt of the city. The college has operated from this location since 1984 and has department-specific laboratories for all nine BE branches. The campus includes a central library, computer labs, seminar halls, and student activity areas.

DCET does not prominently operate hostel facilities. Students typically rely on private accommodation available in surrounding Hyderabad localities. The campus location provides access to city bus routes and the wider Hyderabad Metro network, supporting daily commute for non-resident students. The college’s 40-year history in Hyderabad has built a recognisable regional footprint, particularly among students from minority communities who form a significant portion of the student body given the Trust’s founding mission.

DCET Hyderabad vs MJCET vs Lords Institute

Students comparing private engineering colleges in Hyderabad in the mid-range TS EAMCET rank band often evaluate DCET alongside Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET) and Lords Institute of Engineering and Technology. All three are minority-run, Osmania University-affiliated private colleges in Hyderabad.

MJCET, established in 1980, is generally regarded as the stronger brand among Hyderabad’s minority-community private engineering colleges, with better EAMCET cutoff ranks and placement outcomes. DCET’s 1984 founding gives it a longer alumni network in the city than Lords Institute. Lords serves a similar applicant profile to DCET at a comparable fee level.
