IITM Gwalior Courses

IITM Gwalior offers four courses in different specializations. The courses are IGP, MBA, M.Tech and Doctoral. The detailed information of same is listed below in bullet points.

Course 1: Integrated Post Graduate Program (IPG) {(B.Tech+M.Tech) or (B.Tech+MBA)}

  • Specialization: Computer Science and Engineering
  • Duration: 5 years
  • Eligibility: As per JEE Norms

Course 2: Master of Business Administration (MBA)

  • Specialization: Finance, HR, Marketing
  • Duration: 2 years
  • Eligibility: (i) valid CAT score and (ii) First class bachelor degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology or first class master degree in Science, Operation Research, Computer Science, Economics or Commerce with Mathematics or Statistics at the bachelor level. Course 3: Master of Technology (M Tech)

  • Specialization:  Computer Networks, Digital Communication, Information Security, and VLSI & Embedded systems.

Course 4: Doctoral Programs (Ph.D.)

  • Specialization: Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Management/ Applied Sciences (Mathematics and Physics)

  • Eligibility: GATE qualified candidates having Bachelor degree in CSE/E&C/ Electrical Engineering/IT or equivalent with 1st division

IITM Gwalior Admissions

Admissions to all the academic programs offered at ABV IIITM are based on all India level competitive examination. Candidates can download and fill the application form available at the institute website and submit the same to “The Joint Registrar (A&A), ABV-IIITM. On successful filling of the application forms, candidates will be asked to make the payment of the prescribed application fee through the available payment options.

Admission Criteria:

  • For B.Tech: Students have to give their choice for ABV-IIITM Gwalior in Counseling. Based on their choice and rank in JEE examination, admission is offered to IPG Programme.
  • For MBA: Students are short-listed through Common Admission Test (CAT) Administered by IIMs. This is followed by discussion and personal interview conducted by ABV- IIITM Gwalior. Student's previous academic qualifications and work experience is given due weightage.
  • For M.Tech: The students have to give their choice for ABV-IIITM Gwalior in Counseling. Based on their choice and as per CCMT norms.
  • For Ph.D: Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of score obtained in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination. The candidates are eligible for scholarships as per Institute/GoI norms.

IITM Gwalior Placements

As per the placement report of ABV-IIITM the highest package for MTech was 40 LPA and the average was 10.5 LPA which is better than most of the NITs. A total of 18% of students were offered PPOs (Pre-placement Offer). Total 127 students appeared for campus placement process and 156 offers were received by 108 students. The Highest package for MBA was 15 LPA and the average was 6.5 LPA.

IITM Gwalior Facilities

IITM Gwalior provies all the facilities for overall development of the students. Some of them are listed below

  • Hostel Facilities: ABV-IIITM Gwalior provides residential facilities to its students. A single bed hostel accommodation is provided to all the students. Presently Institute have three hostels for boys and one for girls and these hostels are equipped with all the basic amenities like mess, computer network, reading room, games etc. Telephone facility is also available in all the hostels. A well-equipped gymnasium is also available in the hostel.
  • Start-up Centre: The institute is also promoting start up culture. There are currently 3 units are mentored under this, Shaastra Automation LLP, Grenovators Motor Work Private Limited and ReadRushCreatives Pvt. Limited.
  • Library: The Institute has a rich collection of books and journals in its library. MHRD has set up the Indian National Digital Library in Engineering Sciences and Technology(INDEST). It has a rich collection of 15,000 references and textbooks on a wide range of topics. The library also subscribes to 200 journals, periodicals and magazines in the area of IT and Management. There are 18 Online resources are also available for the students.
  • Research Laboratories: The institute has laboratories required for various courses related to IT, Management and Applied Sciences. There are total 36 research labs. Ques: How are foreign students admitted to ABV-IIITM?

Ans: Foreign students are required to abide by DASA (Direct Admission for Student Abroad) guidelines for admission to this institute.

Ques: Are there any financial aids for students?

Ans: The institute does not provide financial assistance except for payment of stipends to students pursuing M. Tech and Doctoral study programs. Students studying MBA are not entitled to stipends. Candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ and OBC are exempt from tuition fees only.

Ques: Can a candidate discontinue after completing the B. Tech portion of 5-year IPG course?

Ans: Such flexibility is not allowed. Candidates pursuing 5-year IPG study program are awarded a dual degree only after completion of 10-semesters (ideally in five years). This dual degree could either be B. Tech + M. Tech OR B. Tech + MBA.

Ques: What are the mess facilities like?

Ans: Every hostel has a mess that serves breakfast, lunch, evening tea, and dinner to its boarders. Food preparation is simple and hygienic. Items are predominantly vegetarian. These hostel canteen also sell fruit juice, confectioneries, and ice cream.

Ques: Are there any timings for hostels?

Ans: Girls' hostel maintains strict timings and no girl boarder is allowed out after 10 pm. Boys' hostels do not have such restrictions. However male students must return to the institute by midnight in case they venture out of campus.

Ans: There are several activities throughout the year to keep students occupied. Urja and Twaran are sports events, while Aurora is an annual cultural event.
