Bromic Acid is also referred to as Hydrogen bromate or Bromic (V) acid. An oxoacid in nature that exists only in the aqueous solution. While its decomposition process to bromine which is the third lightest halogen, (atomic number 35) at room temperature, the solution of Bromic Acid has no color in its initial state. But it changes its color of the solution to yellow after the process.

Bromic acid is a significant oxidizing agent and is a prime ingredient in Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction. There are several isomers of it. The aqueous solution of bromic acid breaks down in the air while keeping still or particularly while heating. HBr is easily soluble in water and form hydrobromic acid solution, and it is saturated at 68.85% of HBr by weight. On the other hand, Barium sulphate is insoluble in water and hence forms a precipitate. We can also get it as a product in the reaction of barium bromate Ba(BrO3)2) and sulphuric acid H2SO4. Barium sulphate live in its precipitated form. So, bromic acid can be retrieved by removing the precipitated barium sulphate.
Ba(BrO3)2 + H2SO4 → 2HBrO3 + BaSO4
We can also get Bromic acid, while break down of its barium salt with sulphuric acid. We can also obtain bromic acid by the passage of chlorine through bromine water:
5Cl2+Br2+6H2O→2HBrO3+10HCl
Bromic acid salt popularly known as bromates, are stable under normal conditions. However, they release oxygen, when they get decomposed while heating.

Bromates are acquired by electrochemical oxidation of their related bromides. Bromic acid and its salts show strong oxidizing abilities in its acidic solutions, reducing to its ionic state of Br− or to free bromine. They are also used as oxidizing reactants.

Molar mass Br2 = 79.9 g/mol ×2 = 159.8 g /mol
Mol of Br2 in 25.67 g Br2 = 25.67g / 159.8 g/mol = 0.1606
Hence it will require,0.1606 mol / 3 = 0.0535 mol HBrO3
Molar mass HBrO3 = 1+79.9 + (3×16) = 128.9 g/mol
Mass of 0.0535 mol = 0.0535 mol ×128.9 g/mol = 6.896 g HBrO3 required
But reaction has yield = 74.2%
Mass of HBrO3 requires 6.896 g ×100%/ 74.2% = 9.294 g HBrO3 required
Hence, 9.29 g HBrO3 is required.
