CGBSE Class X 2027: Detailed Exam Pattern

The CGBSE Class X 2027 detailed exam pattern spans five compulsory subjects and one optional third language. Every subject has a 75-mark written theory paper and 25 marks for internal assessment or practical work. Science students appear for a separate practical examination in January. CGBSE Class X Exam Pattern: Changes in 2027 vs Previous Year

As of September 2026, CGBSE has not announced any structural changes to the Class X exam pattern for the 2027 cycle. The 2027 exam is expected to follow the same three-tier structure, marks distribution, and assessment design as 2026. If any revision is introduced, CGBSE will notify students through an updated blueprint published on cgbse.nic.in before the 2026–27 academic session begins.

How to Prepare Based on CGBSE Class X Exam Pattern

The CGBSE Class X exam pattern gives you a precise preparation roadmap. With no negative marking and a three-tier structure, the strategy is clear — secure all 15 objective marks through recall, score consistently in short answers through key-point writing, and prepare topic-wise long answer templates for the highest-mark questions.

1. Target all 15 objective marks in every subject. These questions test definitions, key formulas, dates, and vocabulary. Chapter-end summaries and revision notes make this 20% of theory marks the most predictable part of the paper.
2. Practise short answers within word limits. SA-I to SA-III together carry roughly 38 marks in Maths and Science. Examiners check for key terms and logical structure — not length. Write focused 30–100 word responses with the specific points the mark scheme expects.
3. Build topic-wise long answer outlines. LA-I and LA-II carry 22 marks in Maths, Science, and Social Science. For every major chapter, prepare a structured outline with key points, sub-headings, examples, and a labeled diagram for Science topics. Internal choice is usually offered — attempt the question you prepared most thoroughly.
4. Secure your 25 internal assessment marks throughout the year. The separate passing minimum of 9 out of 25 in internal assessment means these marks cannot be recovered in the board exam.
