JKBOSE Class X Marking Scheme 2027

The JKBOSE Class X marking scheme 2027 uses a positive-marks-only structure across all subjects and question types. There is no negative marking — wrong answers and unattempted questions both carry zero. For descriptive and long-answer questions, examiners award partial marks based on the completeness and accuracy of each answer.

There is no negative marking in JKBOSE Class X 2027 — attempt every question, since a wrong or partial answer always scores more than a blank.

Partial credit applies to all descriptive questions — a well-structured incomplete answer still earns marks in JKBOSE Class X 2027.

You must clear a separate passing threshold in both the theory paper and the IA/practical component. The minimum is 27 out of 80 in theory and 7 out of 20 in IA/practical. A strong aggregate alone does not compensate for failing either threshold individually.

Internal Assessment Components

The 20-mark internal assessment for language and non-practical subjects is conducted at the school level throughout the academic year. Science replaces internal assessment with a formal practical exam. The IA breakdown below applies to English, Hindi/Urdu, Mathematics, and Social Science.

Mathematics

The Mathematics theory paper combines objective and descriptive sections. Section A alone contributes 25% of the theory marks through 20 MCQ and fill-in-the-blank questions, rewarding speed and formula accuracy.

Science

The Science theory paper integrates Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in a single 3-hour paper. Biology carries slightly more marks (28) than Physics or Chemistry (26 each). The formal practical exam worth 20 marks is conducted separately at the school under board supervision, covering experiments from all three disciplines.

Science Practical (20 marks): Experiment handling and observation — 10 marks; Viva voce — 2 marks; Record/File maintenance — 2 marks; Other practical activities — 6 marks.

English

JKBOSE Class X Question Types 2027

JKBOSE Class X 2027 papers use a mixed question-type format — each paper opens with a block of MCQ/objective questions and moves through increasing answer lengths. The marks attached to each type guide how long you should spend on each section within the 3-hour paper.

Mathematics Section A places the highest density of 1-mark questions — 20 questions for 20 marks — making it the most time-efficient section in the paper. JKBOSE Class X Exam Pattern: Changes in 2027 vs Previous Year

As of September 2026, JKBOSE has not announced any changes to the Class X exam pattern for the 2027 cycle. The board confirmed no syllabus revision for Class 9 and 10 in 2025–26. How to Prepare Based on JKBOSE Class X Exam Pattern

Your preparation strategy for JKBOSE Class X 2027 should reflect the paper’s actual structure. Each subject has a distinct section breakdown — aligning your study with those sections helps you maximise marks in every part of the paper.

1. Target Section A for guaranteed marks: Mathematics and Social Science each open with 20 MCQs for 20 marks. These are fast marks — revise all formulas, identities, standard results, and factual topics thoroughly so you can answer Section A in 25–30 minutes without lengthy working.
2. Build IA marks consistently throughout the year: The 20-mark internal assessment component — periodic tests, portfolio, and attendance — is awarded before the board exam. These marks are locked in before you sit for the theory paper and cannot be lost on exam day, so consistent classroom participation pays dividends.
3. Prepare Science practicals from the first term: The Science practical carries 20 marks separate from the theory paper, covering experiment procedure, observations, viva questions, and record maintenance. Preparing practicals in the final weeks is too late — start from the first term alongside theory topics.
