Important Topics in Class 6 Maths Chapter 2
Whole Numbers includes the following important topics –

Whole numbers are a set of natural numbers including zero. 0 is the smallest whole number.
| Addition and multiplication of any 2 whole numbers result in a whole number. Subtraction and division of any 2 whole numbers may or may not result in a whole number. |

A number line is a straight and horizontal line on which the numbers are written. A number written on the left-hand side of a number line is smaller and number written on the right-hand side of the number line is greater.
| Example: Find 12 × 35 using distributivity. 12 × 35 = 12 × (30 + 5) = 12 × 30 +12 × 5 = 360 + 60 = 420 |
- Natural Numbers are used for counting and ordering.
| Example: 1,2,3,4,5,6… are natural numbers |
- Whole Numbers are the set of natural numbers along with zero.
| Example: 0,1,2,3,4,5… are called whole numbers. |
- A successor of a number is the number to it, obtained by adding 1. A predecessor of a number is the previous number, obtained by subtracting 1.
| Example: Predecessor and Successor of the number 12 is 12 – 1 which is 11 and 12 + 1 which is 13 |
