TU Ilmenau, a German public research university, offers 19 bachelor and 25 master programs. The university has 5608 students in the winter semester 2018-19. Among them, 26% of the students were international students. The university offers winter and summer academic sessions.

Language Requirements for International Applicants

International applicants applying for courses available in German are required to submit proof of German language proficiency. similarly, for the courses available in English, applicants must submit a proof of English language proficiency. German Language Proficiency

International applicants are required to submit proof of German language proficiency for admission in the TU Ilmenau. Applicants can submit German language test scores for this. The minimum test score requirements for UG and PG applicants are the same. These are as follows:

Visa Requirements for International Applicants

International students applying for admission at a German institute are required to have a residence permit visa for educational purposes or student visas. 

  • Applicants are required to provide the following documents at the time of visa application:
  • Proof or the health insurance cover
  • One passport photograph
  • Registration form
  • Application form for the residence permit
  • Attestation of the landlord
  • Financial statement to show that the applicant has enough funds
  • Letter of acceptance from German University
  • Proof of Assets: €659 /month for one year
  • Apart from the student visa, non-EU students need to get a residence permit from the local authorities in Germany if the applicant is planning to stay for longer than 3 months. The entire visa process may take up to 2 months.
