Bauhaus University of Weimer, founded in 1919, is one of the highly influential Arts and Design School of Germany in the 20th century. In 1996, the Bauhaus sites in Weimar was officially added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage for its cultural inputs to the region. The University is ranked at 1,320 in the world ranking, but the Arts and Design discipline was ranked at 125 by QS World ranking database in 2019.
The university has a student count of 4,073 as per 2018 data, of which 26.7% are foreign students who were enrolled for international degrees and foreign language courses. Bauhaus has partnered up with 273 universities globally including Russia, China and America in order to encourage exchange and ERASMUS programs.

Bauhaus University offers courses in 4 faculties that are delivered at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Postgraduate levels. International Master degrees are available in all the 4 disciplines. There are 11 Master’s programs and 1 doctoral degree that are completely taught in English. Six other programs known as ‘International oriented degree programs’ are taught in more than one language.
The buildings of the main campus hold the position of UNESCO World Heritage sites of the region. The campus exclusively contains a ‘Start-up Hub’ and a ‘Sports center’ for its students and staffs.
International students can choose their stay in student housings, shared flats or private flats. There are 12 Student housings with 1,120 rooms in Weimer, mostly furnished single rooms. If the student did not get accommodation at the beginning, the university hostel can accommodate them for a few days.
Application for a full-time study can be done online through the university application portal only. Summer semester commences from April while winter semester commences from October.
General bequirements: A higher education qualification (for undergraduate admission); bachelor’s degree certificate in a related field of study (for graduate admission); Previous Mark-sheets, letter of recommendations; visa for foreign applicants. Additional Requirements: As mandated by the university, aptitude assessment examination or aptitude test will be needed for certain courses. English Language Requirements: Proof of lEnglish anguage proficiency is required for all courses. Applicants for English taught programs whose native language is not English must prove English language proficiency prior to matriculation.
