The Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel (CAU) or known internationally, the University of Kiel is the oldest higher education institute in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is located in the city of Kiel, which lies close to the Danish border. Since 2006, Kiel University has been a member of the German Universities Excellence Initiatives.
CAU has been in existence since 1665 after when there was a drastic shortage of educated priests and civil servants in the duchy. University of Kiel Programs, Campus, and Residence
- The University of Kiel has 8 faculties which collectively offer 190-degree programs for students to choose from.
- In addition to offering study programs in nearly 80 subject areas, the university also organizes summer schools for international students to get better acquainted with university lifestyle and academic demands.
- All international students must directly contact the Studentenwerk Schleswig-Holstein for accommodation.
Currently, the rent for these dormitories ranges from EUR 190 to EUR 230. Doctoral students are not eligible for Studentenwerk housing but may avail accommodation in private residence halls or apartments.

Applicants may apply for 2020-2021 admissions in either winter or summer sumester. Application deadline varies according to the type of subject and program being opted. Latest deadlines for different applicants is tabulated below:

University of Kiel Tuition & Other Costs
The University of Kiel does not charge its students a tuition fee for the duration of their study. However, a social fee of 259 EUR must be paid each semester.

Scholarships & Financial Aid for International Students
The CAU only awards scholarships to international students who are a part of the international exchange programs. Hence it is advised not to apply or request for scholarships before the studies commence. However,
- Candidates should look for scholarship sponsors from their home country and come to attend the University only after demonstrating their ability to spend at least € 670 per month.
- International students (non-EU/EEA countries) can take up paid jobs for either 120 full days or 240 half-days in a year.

When I received an email through the university, within a nick of time I deposited the required documents and fees. Because studying here is a matter of great pride for me. The University of Kiel is a peculiar leading university known for its world-class professors, beautiful campus, and famous alumnus. I also submitted a fee of 55 Euros.
Course Curriculum :
My course is a full-time program. The course provides training for careers in biomedical research. We get to work high-end research labs. In-depth information on the paleogenetics of disease is provided to us. I am also given an opportunity to write my Master's thesis in the labs of research partners.
