The University of Kiel is the oldest higher education institute in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is located in the city of Kiel, which lays close to the Danish border. Since 2006, Kiel University is a member of the German Universities Excellence Initiatives.
The university has been in existence since 1665, and is one of the most prestigious institutions in Northern Germany. The modern state university’s botanical garden is a big attraction for natives as well as tourists from around the world.

The University of Kiel does not charge its students a tuition fee for duration of their study. However, a social fee of 118.50 EUR must be paid each semester. Other monthly expenses have been tabulated below:
