Programs, Campus, and Residence

  • Comprised of four academic faculties, the University of Passau offers nearly 40 degree programs at the undergraduate/state-exam, graduate, and doctoral level.
  • The Language Center of the University of Passau has more language courses certified to the highest UNIcert® level in Germany. Students have the option to complete a subject-specific language program along with their degree study.
  • The faculty of Arts & Humanities is the most popular, with more than half of the total university students enrolled in it.
  • Four halls of residences with a total of 600 rooms are operated by the Studentenwerk (Student Services Association). Candidates can apply online to avail one of these rooms. Additionally, there are private residence halls run by Catholic Church groups.

  • **Linguistic Proficiency : DSH 2 or DSH 3; TestDaF (TDN 4); Telc German C1 College; Goethe Certificate C2; German Language Diploma of the Standing Conference - Level II (DSD II) with the result C1 in all parts of the examination
  • Apply online via Uni-assist. (70 EUR fee)

**Some programs only require German language proficiency at the DSH 1 level, whereas master’s and doctoral program taught in English do not require German language proficiency. University of Passau Tuition & Other Costs

The University of Passau does not charge its students any tuition fee. A semester contribution of 72 EUR is required to be paid twice every year before the start of each semester. In addition, monthly cost of living in Passau is estimated to be 760 EUR.

Scholarships & Funding for International Students

  • A limited number of scholarships awarded by the International Office can be availed by full-time international students who have completed at least two undergraduate level or one master’s level semester at the University of Passau.

  • The Germany Scholarship (Deustchlandstipendium) is another scholarship that international students with excellent academic performance can apply for.

  • International students demonstrating desperate financial needs due to unforeseen circumstances can apply for a one-time grant of 500 EUR.
