Allahabad University to Complete Holding Final Year Exam within September

Having received the approval of the home ministry, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided that all universities in the country have to hold the final year examination in September. Allahabad University has decided to follow the decision.

The Allahabad University authorities had decided in a meeting of the examination committee held on 15 June that the examination for final year students would be held after 17 August. The university is now well placed to have all the examinations for the final year completed by September. The moderation of the question papers is almost complete.

The controller of examination of the university said that 20,000 final year students (undergraduate and postgraduate), both at Allahabad University and its affiliated colleges. The examination would go on for 20 days and be completed within September.

“We have already decided that the exams could be held in all the seven days of the week and the time duration would be of two hours and the students being asked to answer four questions,” said the controller of examination.

He added that the question papers for the postgraduate courses are ready; those for the undergraduate courses will be ready by a week. “The entire process would have to be completed as soon as possible because a number of students would be coming from other cities,” he said.

Meanwhile, the student leaders have opposed the decision of the UGC, saying that this endangers the health of students due to the coronavirus pandemic. They have warned that if the university proceeds to hold the examinations, the students would boycott them.
