Assam Schools Re-Open for classes 9 to 12 on Sept 21: Students Express Gratitude

Schools in Assam have been reopened from September 21, Monday following strict guidelines in the SOPs.

Many students have expressed their relief as they will get exposure after a long lockdown break. They will get to study in the school environment as before. For the online classes, where most of the upper-class students found the classes easy, some students struggled to attend the online classes.

The reopening of schools is also a sign of freedom for many students as many students were deprived of moving out of their home even after Unlock. Students were stuck in the same environment for more than 6 months.

Many teachers also appreciated the decision. Teachers felt that as students were not able to enjoy sports activities, they became mentally as well as physically unfit. “Students are now facing health issues like laziness and fatigue. Some of them are even suffering from detrimental behavior.” Vice-principal of Holy Brook Sr. Secondary School, Tinsukia said.

During the lockdown, as students were limited to the online world, many of them lost focus on exercises and physical health. Due to the increasing usage of online platforms and social media, the students became more irritated, arrogant, and frustrated. Another reason for the same was the lack of socialization.

Many parents were against the reopening decision of the Assam Government as they thought their ward will get infected with Coronavirus. However, the students attending offline classes have to submit the form containing written approval of their parents. Every student has to provide written consent before entering school.

The recovery rate of COVID in Assam is currently around 80.8 %.

Apart from Assam, many states have resumed offline mode of education including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir among others.
