Bengaluru Colleges Cutoff Rises As Students Secured High Marks In Class 12 Boards 

With more number of students securing soaring marks in class 12 results, the cutoff for the top colleges in Bengaluru is skyscraping this year.

The Mount Carmel College (MCC) Bengaluru, has increased the cutoff by 2-4% for all the streams. A similar trend is witnessed in St. Joseph's College, for the general category, the cutoff has reached 93-95%.

The cutoff in the first merit list for courses like B.A (Hons) has increased from 88% in 2019 to 90% this year. While the cutoff for B.Com (Hons) and B.Com Professional has risen from 87% to 89%.

There are courses like Psychology where the cutoff dropped by 4% from last year and Journalism cutoff is up by 3%, this year.

Public Relations Officer of MCC, Raghu VN said, "Cutoffs have gone up because the composite average taken by CBSE and ISC boards seems to have pushed up the students' scores. The number of students applying with high marks is on the rise this year. The cutoffs for emerging programs are high. Even the traditional Arts and Science Program cut off has gone from 70 
% to 75-77% this year." 

St. Joseph's College Principal Dr. Victor Lobo made a similar remark, "Results have been good this year and the scores have improved tremendously."

NMRV College for Women Principal, Snehalatha GN said, "We have been noticing a change in the scoring pattern and cutoffs are expected to rise by 1-2%. B.Com, Journalism, English, Psychology are among the most sought after courses that attract students above 90% marks."
