BS Yediyurappa, Karnataka Chief Minister, stated on Monday that no Senior School Leaving Certificate (Class 10) and Pre University Exam classes would be there as the government will make an appropriate decision keeping the situation of the COVID-19 Pandemic in mind.

BS Yediyurappa informed the media persons, “Experts have opined that we should not take any decision till December end. We will meet again and take an appropriate decision at the time with regard to the situation. We should not start SSLC (Class 10) and Pre University Exam until then.”

In addition, the Technical Advisory Committee for COVID-19 has suggested the Karnataka government not to reopen schools in December. Technical Advisory Committee, Karnataka, in an official statement added, “After extensive deliberations, it was unanimously resolved not to reopen schools in December.”

On the other hand, the committee stressed that the situation of Covid-19 in the state would be monitored in the last week of December to decide the opening of schools at an appropriate time subsequently.

During the meeting, Dr. M K Sudarshan, TAC, Chairperson, informed the members on Sunday that the state is planning to reopen the schools shortly. "The TAC in its 40th (October 8) and 49th (November 9) meetings had deliberated extensively on this subject. It was then decided to postpone the re-opening of the schools after reviewing the Covid-19 scenario in the state subsequently. In the meanwhile, from November 17 colleges have been reopened, but the attendance of students is very poor."

Sudarshan further added that it is decided to reopen medical and paramedical colleges from December 1, 2020, in the state. However, the impact of reopening of the colleges would be observed in the next few days.
