CSAB Special 2026 registration has begun on July 28 for JEE Main qualifiers seeking vacant NIT IIIT and GFTI seats. The mock seat allotment will release on July 31 and the window closes on August 3 at 10 AM.

CSAB Special 2026 Registration Opens; Mock Allotment July 31

The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has opened CSAB Special 2026 registration. The counselling portal went live on July 28, 2026 at csab.nic.in. The mock seat allotment will release on July 31, 2026.

CSAB Special counselling follows the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 rounds. This round fills vacant seats in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Fresh registration is mandatory even for earlier JoSAA participants.

CSAB Special 2026 Registration Fee

Candidates must pay a Special Round Enrollment Fee (SREF) during registration. An Institute Admission Fee (IAF-II) is charged later after seat allotment. The category-wise fee breakup is listed below.

The SREF includes Institute Admission Fee-I and a Special Round Processing Fee of Rs. 5,000. Payment can be made through net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI.

Who Is Eligible for CSAB Special 2026?

Candidates must hold a valid JEE Main 2026 rank to apply. The counselling is open to specific groups of aspirants listed below.

  • Students who did not join JoSAA 2026 counselling.
  • Aspirants who received no seat during any JoSAA round.
  • Candidates who withdrew from an allotted NIT+ system seat.
  • Students whose earlier seat was cancelled due to documentation issues.

How to Register for CSAB Special 2026?

Registration is a fully online process on the CSAB portal. Candidates must complete each step within the given deadline.

  1. Visit the official website at csab.nic.in and open the CSAB Special 2026 tab.
  2. Complete fresh registration using the JEE Main 2026 application number and password.
  3. Fill in personal, academic and category-related details as required.
  4. Enter choices of institutes and branches in order of preference.
  5. Pay the Special Round Enrollment Fee through the online payment gateway.
  6. Review the mock allotment and rearrange choices if needed.
  7. Lock the final choice list before the locking window closes.
Why This Matters

CSAB Special is the last route to an NIT+ seat this year. The counselling covers 114 participating institutes across the country. Nine new GFTIs have joined the CSAB system this year.
