CSAB Supernumerary Round 2026 Schedule Out at csab.nic.in

The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has released the Supernumerary Round 2026 schedule. The notification is now live on the CSAB portal at csab.nic.in. This round covers supernumerary seats reserved for four Union Territories.

It is a separate counselling based on JEE Main 2026 rank. The round begins after CSAB Special Rounds close on 18 August 2026. Only candidates from the listed Union Territories can register and apply.

Institutes Offering CSAB Supernumerary Seats

Three engineering institutes take part in the CSAB Supernumerary Round 2026. These seats are extra beyond regular JoSAA and CSAB Special intake. They exist to widen access for Union Territory students.

Institute Location
NIT Calicut Kerala
NIT Durgapur West Bengal
SVNIT Surat Gujarat

Who Is Eligible for the CSAB Supernumerary Round 2026?

Only candidates from four specified Union Territories can apply for this round. A valid JEE Main 2026 score and rank is mandatory. Prior JoSAA or CSAB Special Round registration is not carried forward here.

Eligible candidates must belong to one of the following Union Territories:

  • Andaman and Nicobar Islands
  • Lakshadweep
  • Daman and Diu
  • Dadra and Nagar Haveli

Fresh sign up on the CSAB Supernumerary portal is compulsory. Each candidate can register only once during this round.

How to Register for the CSAB Supernumerary Round 2026?

Registration and choice filling happen entirely online on the CSAB portal. Candidates must finish every step within the official window. The steps below outline the full process.

  • Visit the official CSAB website at csab.nic.in.
  • Click on the Supernumerary Round 2026 registration link.
  • Sign in with JEE Main 2026 application number and password.
  • Complete the form and enter your Union Territory details.
  • Fill and lock preferred choices of institute and branch.
  • Wait for the seat allotment result on the portal.

Candidates should read the official information brochure for exact dates. It lists registration, choice filling, allotment, fee, and reporting deadlines.

What Fee Applies After Seat Allotment?

There is no fee to register for the CSAB Supernumerary Round. A Supernumerary Seat Acceptance Fee (SSAF) applies only after seat allotment. Payment must be done through the CSAB portal before the deadline.

The SSAF amount and payment window are listed in the brochure. Missing the deadline leads to automatic loss of the allotted seat. Reporting to the institute follows successful fee payment.

Why This Round Matters for UT Students

The Supernumerary Round creates extra NIT and SVNIT places every year. These seats are not open in the general JoSAA counselling process. It gives Union Territory students a dedicated route into premier institutes.
