Delhi University, DU on July 4th, announced that it will not conduct semester exams for the intermediate year students of the undergraduate programs and the first year postgraduate students.
The notice proposed by the DU authorities has mentioned that this is a one-time measure and the decision has been made in cognizance of the current situation due to the nationwide outbreak of COVID-19.
The announcement has been made for all the students of regular colleges as well as for the DU-SOL and Non-Colligative Women’s Education Board.
Issuing the notification, Dean Examination Vinay Gupta has said that in this prevailing situation of coronavirus it is notified that all the intermediate/semester/term year students shall with an alternative mode of examination as the pen-paper semester examination procedure is not feasible in this extraordinary time when our preference in social-distancing.
The notice mentioned that the students will be graded based on their internal assignments/assessments and the previous semester marks. Both of which will hold a composite of 50% marks.
“For the students who do not have previous semester marks, they shall be graded completely on the internal marks that is 100% assignment based evaluation. This is applicable for the first-year SOL students who are under semester based evaluation but their first semester exams were not conducted”, reads the official notification.
However the final year students have to appear in the Open Book Examination(OBE), which will be conducted in an online mode from July 1, 2020.
