The Delhi University admissions for all the categories under the Extra-curricular activity quota will be done on the basis of self-attested certificates.
Earlier, Delhi University scrapped the ECA admissions except for the National Cadet Corps and the National Service Scheme but now the standing committee of the Academic Council has reconsidered it.
However, several teachers have opposed this decision as they believe that admissions must not be given based on certificates.
DU also considered conducting spot admissions through government-approved certificates, but such certificates do not exist for the ECA categories, hence the university had to scrap it.
Following this, the renowned dancers like Geeta Chandran and Sonal Mansingh criticized and demanded ECA admissions. DU Chancellor and Vice President Venkaiah Naida also urged the authorities to continue with the ECA admissions.
In a meeting attended by a sub-committee for the Sports and ECA, it is decided to combine the performance trial marks and certification marks and students will be evaluated on the basis of self-attested copies.
Students will be marked on a scale of 100 and factors would be training and participation in the competition.
