Delhi University is all set to commence classes for all semesters from August 16, 2023.

New Delhi: The Delhi University has announced that sessions for all its programmes will start from August 16, 2023, as an effort to create consistency between semesters. The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted the university's academic schedule, causing a few-day break or no break in several institutions.
The consistency of semesters has also been disrupted because classes for various years began at various times. According to the DU, teachers have also been requesting a one-month mandated vacation since "continuous working was impacting their mental health".
The Delhi University (DU) said in a notification that it has changed earlier announcements to implement a unified academic calendar. According to the statement, summer break would start for semesters I and II on April 29, 2023 and August 15, 2023, respectively, while it would last for semesters III and IV from May 30 to August 15, 2023.
Teachers have praised the move, stating that having sporadic semesters was problematic for both them and the pupils. "Everyone is aware that the scattered semesters were causing a lot of issues for both students and staff in all colleges.
In order to correct this anomaly, the National Democratic Teachers' Front (NDTF) had repeatedly raised the issue. All semesters will now begin on August 16, 2023, thanks to the university's final acceptance of the justification. So everyone will have a common summer holiday from July 21 to August 15, 2023," said Luke Khanna.
