Delhi University to Launch New Registration Portal for BTech Programs

New Delhi: Delhi University has introduced three new BTech programs for the current academic session 2023-24 and will launch a new portal by next week for candidates willing to seek admission to the DU BTech courses. 

Interested students will have the opportunity to indicate their preferences among the BTech Computer Science and Engineering, BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering, and BTech Electrical Engineering programs. Subsequently, Delhi University will allocate seats to the students. 

The total capacity for these programs will be 360 seats and the candidate's selection for the BTech courses will be based on their JEE Main scores.

According to the Dean of Admission, Haneet Gandhi, the BTech Admission process will commence next week and the students will have the opportunity to indicate their preferences, and seats will be allocated accordingly. The timeframe for accepting the allotted seats will be a few days. 

However, Gandhi did not provide any information regarding the registration fee, stating that the details are still under discussion and the Faculty of Technology will be responsible for conducting the three courses.

In accordance with a university notification, one seat in each of the three programs will be reserved for a single girl child. Moreover, the university plans to introduce a Financial Support Scheme (FSS) aimed at providing equitable access to quality education for economically disadvantaged students.

As per the university, each course will have a capacity of 120 seats. The courses will be evaluated based on a weighted system, where the major subject area will hold a minimum of 50% weightage and a maximum of 65% weightage. The remaining weightage will be allocated to minor subject areas of study.

Further, the students will have various exit options that will align with the National Education Policy. Students will receive a certificate upon completing one year of study and fulfilling the required credits. 

The university has also stated that those who complete two years will be awarded a diploma, while those who complete three years will receive an advanced diploma. Students who complete a four-year program will be awarded a BTech degree.
