DU Admissions 2020: Sports and ECA Categories Selection Through Certificates

Delhi University (DU) has decided to hold admissions in sports and extracurricular activities (ECA) categories based on their certificates and not trials. 

As per Delhi University officials, the registrations for UG admissions are likely to begin from June 20.

The university will not be conducting trials for Delhi University UG Admissions 2020, which means admissions will be based on certificates alone. 

Earlier, it was believed that Delhi University Admission process might begin from June 8, 2020. However, the meeting held by the Standing Committee decided upon commencing DU Admissions 2020 from June 20 till July 4.

Depending on CBSE Class 12 Results 2020, the cut off is expected to be released between August 10- August 20.

As per a member of the committee, “Keeping in mind social distancing due to COVID-19, ECA and sports trials will not be held this year. For sports, there will be a point system according to which level an aspirant has played. 

They will be selected accordingly. For sports, NSS and NCC, certificates will be counted, but there will be no admissions for dance, theatre, music, etc.”

This time, if there are discrepancies in spelling of names or surnames are missing in SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PWD certificates, it will be cross verified with additional certificates for admission and not simply rejected. 

Previously, admissions required to renew caste certificates, but this time only renewal of income certificate will be required and not caste certificates.

A standing committee official asserted, “It was decided that the documents which are bonafide and once submitted online on the basis of which approval is given for the admission by the college, cannot be rejected later to cancel the admission on the premise that the document is not acceptable unless it is forged.

 The college can ask the additional information through the phone or email of the student.”

The meeting decided on publishing listed boards on the UG information bulletin to ensure admission committees of college can differentiate the original from the fake ones.
