DU Allows Merit-Based UG Admission 2026 at Aditi and Bhagini Nivedita Colleges; Apply Now

The University of Delhi (DU) has approved a merit-based admission route for two off-campus colleges for the 2026-27 academic session. The colleges are Aditi Mahavidyalaya and Bhagini Nivedita College.

Both colleges can admit undergraduate students through Class 12 merit. DU Registrar Vikas Gupta confirmed the decision. The permission is subject to seat availability and university approval.

The decision follows repeated failures to fill seats through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), which is based on CUET UG scores. The continued availability of vacant seats prompted DU to allow direct admissions at these colleges.

Both colleges will conduct the admission process in physical mode. Aditi Mahavidyalaya has opened its application window from August 4 to August 16, 2026. Bhagini Nivedita College has also invited applications for the same admission round.

How to Apply for Merit-Based DU Admission 2026?

The application process is short and online. Candidates must complete their registration before the August 16, 2026 deadline. Late applications will not be considered.

1. Visit the official website at aditi.du.ac.in.
2. Open the notice for merit-based admission 2026-27.
3. Click on the Student Admission Registration Form link.
4. Enter the required personal, academic and course preference details.
5. Submit the application form and save a copy for future reference.

Why DU Approved Direct Merit Admission?

DU shifted all undergraduate admissions to CUET UG in 2022. Since then, admissions have been conducted through the CSAS portal. However, several colleges continue to report vacant seats after multiple allocation rounds.

Aditi Mahavidyalaya and Bhagini Nivedita College reported low enrolment despite several CSAS rounds. Vacant seats affect fee revenue and college operations. DU has therefore permitted a one-time direct merit-based admission route for these colleges.
