FYJC Admission 2020: Round-1 Records Fewer Students Confirming Admittance

Mumbai, September 5, 2020: The round-1 of Junior College Admission 2020 closed on Friday recording only 45% of students taking admissions.

Reports claim students of the general category were to confirm their Maharastra FYJC admissions within 5 pm on September 4, 2020. The data recorded 53,000 students confirming their admissions out of the total 1.17 lakh candidates who had been allotted colleges for round-1.

This year, 2,00,020 seats are available for admission to junior colleges, excluding reserved quota.

Earlier, the Department of Education, Maharashtra had released the FYJC first merit list 2020 on August 31, 2020. The 1st merit list was released online for all regions including Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur.

The zero round admission that takes place for in-house students along with minority and management quota candidates recorded 17,461 students confirming their admittance. On the other hand, 7,776 students took admission through social categories of SC, ST, EWS, SEBC, OBC and VJNT. 

Considering stream-wise figures, 6,000 students got admission in arts, 26,000 in commerce and 19,000 in science while 700 for vocational subjects.

A striking possibility for a reduced admission rate in the first round is believed to be high cutoffs at FYJC first merit list. This is simply owed to higher scores at Class 10 boards. 

Moreover, Maharashtra FYJC Class 11 Admission 2020 also saw slow verification that led to delay in the admission process.

The fewer number of verified forms compared to the total number of students registered on the centralized portal of the First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions, forced the director of secondary and higher secondary education to write to the Deputy Director of Education to clear the pendency quickly.

The Maharashtra First Year Junior College (FYJC) online Admission 2020 process started on August 01, 2020. Admission for interested candidates was regionally bifurcated for Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Amravati and Aurangabad.

Students who passed SSC or equivalent exams with a minimum of 35% marks had to apply online. The documents like Grade 10 certificate, caste certificate and original School Leaving Certificate were required.

However, the date for releasing the second merit list is not announced. The Department of Education, Maharashtra will release the second merit list shortly.
