The State Education and Literacy Department of Jharkhand is planning to reopen government schools from 21 September for students of classes 9 to 12, who want to consult teachers to clarify doubts. Students from these classes can go to their schools after obtaining written permission from their guardians.
The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has prepared a draft proposal, which after being approved by the secondary education wing, will be sent to the state disaster management for approval.

JEPC officials claimed that the draft proposal has been submitted to the secondary education wing. However, the secondary education director, Jatashankar Choudhary, denied the claim.
Choudhary said, “As per the guidelines from the Government of India, if a student, who wants to consult a teacher for any educational doubts, he/she can visit the school after getting consent from parents or guardians. The school will not call the students.”
A JEPC official on condition of anonymity said that the council only provided technical support in preparing the proposal for the secondary education wing.
In the proposal, it has been suggested that 20 students be allowed to sit in a class per day, in order to maintain social distancing. Only 50 percent of the teachers will be allowed per day.
The State Education and Literacy Department recently requested feedback from parents by means of a poll, regarding the reopening of schools for students of classes 9 to 12 as well as their syllabus. The poll was conducted from 24 to 31 August. 25.76 percent of the parents who participated in the poll wanted schools to reopen only in September, while 31.74 percent of parents suggested that classes should be resumed after a COVID vaccine was developed.
82 percent of parents wanted their children’s syllabus to be reduced.
