Haryana plans trial Classes for 10th, 12th students; Read School Reopening Guidelines

The Haryana government will reopen state-run schools in two districts on a trial basis. Centre has unleashed unlock 4.0 guidelines that include school reopening advisories; approving of this plan.

Haryana is planning to conduct trial classes for 10th and 12th standard students in two district schools. The state government has made this decision in line with Unlock 4.0 guidelines that the Centre has released recently. 

As per latest updates, the Haryana government will reopen two state-run schools in the districts of Sonipat and Karnal on a trial basis. The state will allow trial runs for these schools once required modalities for COVID-19 are charted out.

The state will ensure modalities that are set will ensure the safety of the teaching as well as teaching staffs put on duty. meanwhile, Ministry of Home Affairs recently issued the Unlock 4 Guidelines, making it mandatory for all educational institutions as well as coaching centres to remain shut till 30th September. 

As per the directive, schools and colleges are only allowed to have 50% of the faculty members present physically at a time. This will be in effect from 21st September 2020. In line with this, the Haryana Government has applied to the central government for approval on beginning trial classes in districts. 

Haryana Government Gears up to Reopen Schools

At a recent press meet, Kanwar Pal, Education Minister of Haryana, announced that the state was prepared to reopen schools and awaiting approval from the Centre. 

Details confirm students need to furnish consent letters from their parents before attending school. Before entering schools, students will undergo thermal screening. They have to make sure they wear masks and carry hand sanitizer. 

However, the Minister also said, authorities need a few days’ time to work on the modalities for beginning classes amid COVID-19 pandemic. The work will proceed once the Central government gives a nod. 

Education Department Reveals Trial Class Procedure

Education department officials have decided to begin trial classes in Government Senior Secondary School, Nigdhu, Karnal district, and Government High School, Bajidpur of Sonipat district.

These schools will open for 4 days only, dates for yet to be announced. Officials will film the entire class procedure from students entering school premises, attending classes and leaving by foot or any vehicle.

Social distancing norms will be maintained and classes will be held on the porch and not within the classroom. Students will be provided masks, hand sanitisers and thermal screening will be done at the gate.

Video shot will help officials to create Standard Operating procedures (SOPs) and set guidelines for COVID-19. These will be demonstrated to students using the EDUSAT network. 

Parents want Schools to Reopen, Says Report

Haryana state education department recently conducted a survey picking random schools to understand parents’ reaction to school reopening plans. 

The survey encompassed reactions of 76,019 parents of students in state-run schools in 22 districts. Findings reveal 85% of parents who have their wards in Classes 10 and 12, demanded schools to reopen.

While 83% of parents of students in different classes, gave a nod to beginning classes from September. 

Survey asked questions like whether parents were willing to send children to schools from September, should schools open from September and whether they had been tested positive or any family member had taken COVID test.

After the survey uncovered that the majority of the parents are in favour of reopening schools, the state government is now planning to begin trial classes at first. 

The entire development is in the planning stage and the government is yet to take a final decision.
