HRD Minister Releases Alternative Academic Calendar for Upper Primary for 8-Weeks

HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has released an ‘alternative academic calendar’ for the upper primary - Classes 6 to 8, to help teachers and parents plan students’ education through the lockdown enforced due to COVID-19.

The calendar contains “detailed guidelines” to achieve the “best possible learning outcomes” while students are at home. Earlier, the minister had released a 4-week calendar for upper primary students.

 “Alternative Academic Calendar for upper primary stage (Classes 6 to 8) for four weeks was released earlier. I have launched the academic calendar for the next eight weeks today,” said Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, through his official social media handle

The Calendar contains detailed guidelines for teachers on the use of technology & social media tools to impart education while the students are at home.

Moreover, the calendar aims to empower students, teachers, school principals and parents with positive ways to deal with COVID-19 via online teaching-learning resources and achieve the best possible learning outcomes.

The alternative academic calendars are prepared by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
