Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur’s researchers have developed an online-teaching software to simplify the online classes. It uses one-way communication with the students for their better understanding.
IIT Kharagpur’s online teaching software named “Deeshank” completely focuses on creating a smooth environment for online learning materials.

The current version of the software is limited within the campus LAN, while the developer Mr. Raja Datta of the Department of Electronics has confirmed the implementation of improved algorithm to the software for better experience.
The software features the single session platform where teachers are able to interact with the students and can clarify their queries individually.
Mr. Datta also signified that there is a separate “Doubt Box” available at the platform which has the “Raise Hand” option. Students can use that option during the live classes to ask their doubts and teachers will be able to cater that easily.
He also mentioned that the teachers can share documents with the students in a live class and can also update notes during the class.
Deeshank is a long bandwidth web based software that enables the user to login through computers as well as mobile phones. The software also ensures the feasibility of recording attendance during the live lectures.
Briefing on this matter IIT Kharagpur’s Director, Mr. Virendra K Tewari said that the Online Teaching Software “Deeshank” is the key step towards the new normal of Indian Academia.
The software has been tested in its initial phase at IIT Kharagpur with about 40 hours of classes being conducted for an approximate 300 students.
