IIT Madras Dept. of Science & Technology Develop Portable Micro Structure to Treat COVID Patients

An IIT Madras startup in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology has designed a portable microstructure 'MediCAB' for COVID-19 treatment in local communities.

MediCAB developed by IIT Madras is a foldable structure consisting of a doctor's room, isolation room, medical room, and a twin bed ICU.

What is the use of 'MediCAB'?

The structure uses a decentralized approach to detect, manage, and treat COVID-19 patients through portable microstructures. The four zones in the MediCAB are tightly-sealed and dust-proof, thus making it withstand any kind of weather.

The structure can be easily transported and installed in any location in 2 hours and requires the help of 4 persons to be transported.

The Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan revealed the innovation on his twitter handle, "Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Science & Technology, under DST in collaboration with 'Modulus Housing'- an IIT Madras incubated start-up has come up with a solution using the decentralized approach to detect, manage and treat COVID-19 patients in local communities through portable microstructures."
