Jadavpur University to grant admissions based on 12th Board results

Jadavpur University has announced that there will be no entrance examinations for UG Humanities courses this academic year.

The admission committee of Jadavpur University concluded at a meeting that students will be granted admission on the basis of their Class 12th Board results

A member of the committee stated that this practice is not going to be a norm and is only applicable to this year’s admissions. This decision was made after considering the Covid-19 pandemic and its impacts on education. However there have been appeals to scrap entrance exams in the past.

The Bengali department announced that it will be ascribing 70% weightage in total to be given to class 12th board exams with a division of 55% to Bengali and 15% to English. The remaining 30% weightage will be divided among class 10th board exam scores.

For the departments of Sanskrit, Sociology and International Relations, the best four subjects in class 12th boards will be aggregated to compile the merit list. For philosophy and history, one language and best three subjects will be considered. 

The admission committees for economics and science departments are yet to announce their decisions on the admission criteria for this academic year.
