Karnataka Government prohibits students from visiting Schools as COVID-19 cases escalate

On September 19, 2020, Students of Class 9 to 12 were prohibited by the Karnataka Government from attending schools and pre-university colleges to meet teachers for doubt sessions, keeping in mind the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

As per the guidelines previously issued by the Karnataka government, it was decided that students of Class 9 to 12 would be permitted to attend the schools after COVID-19 cases in the state had come down, as directed by the education department. It would be only reasonable to allow students to gather in large numbers to attend classes after the scenario becomes more conducive.

Witnessing a rise in active COVID-19 cases in the state, the state government suggested that it is not yet safe to permit school and college students to gather in large groups for offline classes. Doing this will risk transmission of the disease among students, faculty members as well as their respective families.
