Karnataka Schools to Reopen from September 21; not for regular classes

Karnataka: The schools and colleges of Karnataka will now re-open from 21 September. They will conduct doubts clearing classes, but no regular classes will begin due to increasing cases of COVID-19 in the states.

As per the Unlock 0.4 Guidelines, the schools of Karnataka will conduct doubts clearing sessions for students of class 9th onwards. During the classes, the students have to follow the COVID-19 prevention guidelines.

Replying to students' queries about regular classes, the Karnataka Minister Mr. Kumar stated that under any circumstances, the regular classes will not start in the states. The authority is waiting for the green signal from the central government. Due to the increasing cases of coronavirus, there are no updates.

Referring to the issue, the minister of Karnataka responded to the reports "The State government is waiting for the center's approval for starting regular classes for Primary and Secondary schools and colleges."

"From September, the partial schools and universities will open to provide doubts clearing sessions of the students related to their studies. There'll be no regular classes for now" he added.

However, the government has declared that private institutes of Karnataka can only collect a one-time fee due to the pandemic. Violating the norms and guidelines can lead to complaints against the university.

In response to the challenges faced by the university authority, Minister Kumar replied that every year 10 lakh students enroll in different UG and PG programs in Karnataka, but in the year 2020 the enrollment numbers have been reduced.

The university decided to fix a targeted number to complete the enrollment procedure by the end of September.

Unlock 4.0 Karnataka Guidelines for Schools and Colleges

The Government clarifies that schools and colleges of Karnataka will remain closed until further notice until 30 September 2020. The following are the Guidelines issued by the State and Central Government for schools and colleges of Karnataka.

Lockdown will remain in force until 30th September in the Containment zones of Karnataka.
Students are not allowed to gather outside the school and college premises.
No mandatory quarantine for 14 days for those who are visiting Karnataka from other states.
Students of classes 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th are now allowed to visit the school grounds for doubts clearing sessions only.
During the classes, the students need to follow the guidelines provided by the central government for coronavirus prevention.
Colleges and Coaching centers will now remain closed until 30 September 2020 until further notice.
