KSHEC Comes Out With Education Plan Post COVID 19

Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) submitted the 'Post Covid 19 higher education policy document' on October 27, 2020.

The KSHEC has prepared the policy document on Post Covid 19 higher education after a complete discussion with the stakeholders.

The achievement of qualitative changes in the structure and outcome of higher education was laid out by the policy document.

  • The short term and long term action plans were portrayed and immediate measures to bridge the digital device were stated.
  • Warning against the preference for centralization or homogenization of curriculum.
  • Stressed the need for the establishment of a digital repository at the state level for online learning.
  • Urged the government to ensure free or subsidized internet connection provided to students.
  • The need for a gender audit of textbooks and requested to enhance the facilities for girls students in the state.
  • Identified the major challenges such as problems of autonomy and social base of higher education institutions, and quality assurance of self financing institutions.
  • The report mainly focused on interuniversity networking, accreditation of all higher educational institutions, developing a community base of institutions, and social adaptability of students.

  • The policy document addressed the coverage of the syllabus during the lockdown period.
  • Conducting the end semester examination, reducing the burden of practical examination were described.
  • Usage of bar coded examination by University, online supply of question papers, monitoring of home valuation were explained 
  • Training programs for teachers, design of blended curriculum, and formation of e-journal consortium for universities.

KSHSE's executive body meeting approved the final policy document.
