Mamata Banerjee Directs Private Schools Not to Hike Fees

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee directed private schools of the state not to hike the school fees this year due to the critical economic situation of the country.

Mamata Banerjee also indicated that the closure of the schools may be further extended for a month beyond June 30, 2020. Out of the total coronavirus cases, 9,328 positive cases are from West Bengal.

Sending students to the schools may further increase the positive cases in the state. To keep the students safe and control the positive cases, the state decided to extend the closure of all academic institutions in West Bengal.

CM Banerjee said, " It's my request to all the private schools not to hike the fees this year. This time all the academic institutions were closed. I urge you as people don't have money to pay the fees."

She further added, "The students' studies are affected due to the schools being shut. We decided to keep the schools closed till June 30, 2020, but this may continue in July as well."

Schools and academic institutions were closed in West Bengal, since March 16, 2020. However, to continue the teaching learning process, the institutions are asked to stay connected with students through calls, SMS, video calls. The studies shall continue via the technology medium like the internet or television.

West Bengal class 10 results have also been delayed. Not only this, West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee announced the postponement of the WBCHSE Board Exam.
